Exploiting regional value

Promoting regional advantages to organize career guidance activities is one of the good practices implemented by educational institutions.

According to the assessment ofeducational institutions, diversifying forms of vocational education has created opportunities for many students to access vocational knowledge at different levels and needs.

Accordingly, students can “surf” through sightseeing, experience or research thoroughly and in depth through scientific and technical research activities, implementing topics and startup ideas from school. In particular, the popular, effective and community-recognized highlight over the years is to explore local values in career guidance and career guidance in high schools.

Among them, there are many outstanding projects such as: "Producing salt from the Central Highlands people, AMRÊČ salt", "Designing and manufacturing a passion fruit pulp suction machine to automate the production process and increase labor productivity" by students of Dong Du Secondary and High School; the project "Producing biological clay powder from dragon fruit peel" by students of Le Quy Don High School...

Recently, the project "Research on some products from k'nia seeds - A gift from the great forest" by a group of students from Cao Nguyen Practice High School won third prize at the 7th Student Startup Ideas Competition organized by the Ministry of Education and Training in coordination with related units in Ho Chi Minh City. Ha Gia Bao, a student from Cao Nguyen Practice High School, a member of the project, shared that this project originated from the desire to revive the cultural products of the Central Highlands people, specifically the seeds of the k'nia tree. The k'nia tree is a cultural symbol of the Central Highlands people and produces seeds with high nutritional value. Many children in Buon Don district still collect k'nia seeds to sell, but their income is unstable, so he and his friends came up with the idea and implemented the project.

Interestingly, in published research documents, k'nia seeds contain good fats and high protein, surpassing many other types of seeds. Products from k'nia seeds (candy, cookies and gluten-free rice paper) are handmade, low cost, ensuring food safety. Participating in this project, Nguyen Pham Huyen Linh said that rice paper is the "hottest" product because it does not contain gluten, suitable for people on a diet or with starch allergies. When participating in displaying and introducing products, consumers really like it and want to order in large quantities. Therefore, building and developing the traditional rice paper making profession of the family in Dak Lak associated with indigenous culture is a noteworthy career direction.

Dak Lak has many advantages in terms of land and climate to develop agriculture, ecotourism, culture, etc. Therefore, exploiting these values in implementing vocational education activities with a typical occupational structure is a direction that the education sector pays attention to, responding to the occupational trends of society. To exploit regional values in vocational education, educational institutions can do so through the following activities: increasing the participation of vocational education institutions and enterprises in building programs, documents, and evaluating vocational education results; coordinating between educational institutions (general, university, vocational), production and business establishments to exploit and use facilities and teaching equipment for vocational education, etc.

According to Dr. Le Thi Thao, Head of the Department of General Education and Vocational Education - Continuing Education (Department of Education and Training), the school environment with active support from the school and society is an ideal space to carry out career education activities for students. When students are given the opportunity to develop ideas linked to reality, they will promote their creativity and sense of social responsibility.

In reality, career education in high schools is not simply career orientation but also a process that helps students understand themselves, discover the compatibility between their personal abilities and interests and the needs of the labor market.

The Government's Project on Career Guidance and Student Streaming in General Education for the 2018-2025 period also pointed out the need to innovate content and methods in an integrated manner, meeting the development trends of domestic professions.

An effective career education process will help students have a correct perception of their career, be more confident in determining their goals, find joy and motivation in their future work, and thereby contribute their best to society.

Furthermore, effective career education at the high school level will help reduce the "mismatch" between human resources and market demand, avoiding wasting young talents...
