Explore "General Vo Nguyen Giap's Forest" with digital technology

VHO - Gia Phu Commune, Son La Province has just held an incense offering ceremony at the Temple of General Vo Nguyen Giap and inaugurated a digital tourism explanation project at the historical site of the resistance war against the French, Ban Nhot forest, to contribute to promoting tourism associated with culture and history in the area.

The special forest in Nhot village, Gia Phu commune (former Phu Yen district) with the name "General Vo Nguyen Giap Forest" is not only a historical relic of important significance, but also a place that marks the affection of the ethnic people of Son La province towards General Vo Nguyen Giap and the army in the Dien Bien Phu campaign.

Nhot village forest is located along National Highway 37, with an area of nearly 200 hectares, formed by two mountain ranges, with fresh air all year round. In 1954, during the march from Nghia Lo ( Yen Bai province) to Dien Bien to participate in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, General Vo Nguyen Giap and the Liberation Army stopped and stationed here, so from then on, the forest was affectionately called "General Vo Nguyen Giap Forest" by the people.

The project contributes to creating a breakthrough in applying digital technology to tourism promotion activities associated with culture and history at the relic site.

In 2008, the People's Committee of Son La province recognized the General Vo Nguyen Giap forest as a provincial historical relic. By 2020, Son La province assigned Phu Yen district (old) to deploy and implement the project of restoring, embellishing and promoting the value of the historical relic site of the resistance war against the French in Ban Nhot forest sustainably associated with tourism development, creating a destination for pilgrimages to the old battlefield, implementing the nation's morality of "When drinking water, remember its source". In 2021, the project to protect the forest, restore, embellish and promote the value of the historical relic site of the resistance war against the French in Ban Nhot forest was inaugurated.

Coming here, people and tourists can not only relive the heroic atmosphere of the Liberation Army advancing to Dien Bien to participate in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign in 1954, but also immerse themselves in the sacred and fresh space of the relic site of the Temple of General Vo Nguyen Giap.

Through scanning QR codes, people and tourists can easily learn about the life and career of General Vo Nguyen Giap.

In order to promote the value of the historical relic site of the resistance war against France, Ban Nhot forest , recently the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Phu commune has deployed a digital tourism explanation project by installing 2 QR code scanning points right at the entrance to the relic site and at the area of the Temple of General Vo Nguyen Giap.

Through scanning the QR code, people and tourists can easily learn about the life and career of General Vo Nguyen Giap, the location and scale, architecture, history and historical and cultural value of the relic site.

The inauguration of the digital explanation project at the relic site has contributed to creating a breakthrough in applying digital technology to tourism promotion activities associated with culture and history in Gia Phu commune, practically commemorating the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, welcoming the first Congress of Gia Phu commune Party Committee, term 2025-2030, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party.
