In recent days, to overcome the erosion of My Khe beach, the People's Committee of Da Nang City has urgently mobilized 200 people to build sand dikes to limit the deep erosion into the shore. This area has a beach known as one of the 6 most beautiful beaches on the planet.
The Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Agricultural Works and Rural Development in Da Nang said that the unit has coordinated with the Department of Tourism, the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches to mobilize more than 200 people and motor vehicles to urgently implement temporary solutions at My Khe beach to limit wave encroachment deep into the shore.
My Khe Beach was once named one of the 6 most attractive beaches on the planet, and one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in Asia. However, in the past week, this area has been eroded by seawater, causing serious landslides, leaving the beach devastated.
To fix this, the front of this area is reinforced with large sandbags to prevent waves from causing landslides.
Weave 1.5m x 2m steel baskets to place sandbags stacked on top of each other in a long row to prevent waves from hitting My Khe beach.
There are three main landslide points including the section from Nguyen Van Thoai intersection to the front of T20 Passenger Station of Military Region 5, the beach in front of Tourane Hotel and the beach in front of Hau Sua restaurant...
Mechanical vehicles are mobilized to scoop sand close to the water's edge at locations where wave erosion is less likely to occur and transport it to the inside of sandbag walls, sandbag baskets...
Recently, due to the strong cold air, the northeast monsoon has been active at sea, causing big waves and rising sea levels, causing waves to erode deep into the sand, causing landslides in some locations on the coast.
The leaders of the Da Nang City People's Committee have requested the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Agricultural and Rural Development Works to coordinate with the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and tourist beaches to deploy forces to take advantage of favorable weather to urgently reinforce landslide areas. Currently, the beach areas in Son Tra and Ngu Hanh Son districts are being eroded by waves, with a total length of about 500 m. Among the landslide locations, the most severe is the My Khe beach section, Phuoc My ward, Son Tra district.
In the long term, the People's Committee of Da Nang City is assigning relevant agencies to research, evaluate and find solutions to build concrete embankments in landslide areas. After the documents are approved, the Management Board of investment projects for construction of agricultural and rural development works will begin construction.
The image of a devastated Da Nang beach makes many people feel heartbroken.
The leaders of the Da Nang People's Committee have requested departments and branches to urgently find temporary solutions to limit the ongoing landslide situation, especially in areas with deep erosion. At the same time, propose stable and long-term solutions to protect the coast, especially at My Khe beach.
