Heroic land in the Giang Man range

According to many historical documents of Quang Binh province (old), before the August Revolution in 1945, in Dan Hoa commune, the people of all ethnic groups were united, closely coordinating with the ethnic groups in Laos sharing the same border to fight against the French invaders. By August 25, 1945, the enemy government in Trong Hoa, Dan Hoa... had completely disintegrated, the uprising to seize power here had won.

The history of the Minh Hoa district Party Committee (volume 1, pages 70-71) recorded: “In Dan Hoa, there were Ho Xa Da and Ho Nhoi, Bru-Van Kieu ethnic people who fed party members when they went to Thailand and stayed there for months. They then provided food and provisions to help party members during the long journey through Laos and Thailand. In early 1944, while returning to build bases and develop the revolutionary movement, he was surrounded and arrested by soldiers of La Trong station. Mr. Nguyen Van Huyen was cleverly hidden in a basket by Mr. Ho Nhoi and taken to the fields, thereby escaping the siege of the French colonialists. This action demonstrated the intelligence and courage of the people of the ethnic groups in Dan Hoa.”

Through two resistance wars, in Dan Hoa commune, there was Mr. Ho Phom who was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the President in 1967; Mr. Ho Huan was honored by the State as an Emulation Fighter against the US, saving the country in 1968... Currently, on Highway 12A passing through Dan Hoa commune, there are 5 national historical relics, including: The memorial stele for heroic martyrs at Cha Quang hill, Bai Dinh victory monument, Heaven's Gate, Nguyen Viet Xuan battlefield and Cha Lo victory monument... These historical relics are "living proof", proving the brutality of war as well as the spirit and indomitable fighting spirit of our army and people in Dan Hoa land in the past.

“Revolutionary heroism is expressed in the noble sacrifice of all classes of people, from old militiamen to school-age children, from the Vietnamese community to ethnic minorities... Thanks to that, from a remote area, the historical places and events of Minh Hoa have gone beyond local limits, becoming the pride of the whole country and having international resonance” - History of the Minh Hoa District Party Committee (volume 1, page 298).

Unite to build a prosperous life

The event of merging the two communes of Dan Hoa and Trong Hoa (old) to become Dan Hoa commune today not only has historical significance but is also an important turning point to build a more prosperous and happier life for the May and Khua people along the Giang Man range.

Mr. Ho Van Lin (a Khua ethnic, former Party Secretary of the former Dan Hoa commune), residing in La Trong 1 village, Dan Hoa commune, confided: “Being born and raised in this land, I understand very well the close relationship and solidarity between the May and Khua people, just like real brothers in the same family. In the past, when the roads were difficult and life was hard, the May and Khua people were always ready to unite and support each other to chase away wild animals that destroyed crops so that labor and production could be favorable. The two ethnic groups also often shared every bite of food and drop of water when going to the fields and visiting the fields. The frequent visits to each other have also made many May and Khua couples become husband and wife, living very happily and closely. The generations of descendants with the same May and Khua bloodline are multiplying day by day, almost every village in Dan Hoa commune has couples, most notably in the villages of Y Leng, Ba Loc, K-Ai, Do, and Ta. Ho Pheo (born in 1952) is a May ethnic, former Chairman of the People's Committee of the old Dan Hoa commune, and is currently a prestigious person in K-Ai village, Dan Hoa commune. He said: “Although the two ethnic groups, the May and Khua, have relatively separate cultures, they still have relatively similar concepts of spiritual life. At the festival to worship the god Cu Loong Co Tooc (the god of heaven and earth) and the custom of tying a thread around the wrist (at the beginning of the new year), both the May and Khua people pray to the gods to pray for favorable weather, to avoid natural disasters and epidemics; to pray for the lives of the May and Khua people to always be peaceful, healthy and to educate everyone in the clan to always be united, to be close to each other, to be grateful to their ancestors, their roots, to love their homeland and country... With the tradition of solidarity between the May and Khua people that has been cultivated over many generations, now that we are "under one roof", we will continue to promote solidarity to build the border villages to be more and more prosperous and beautiful”.

Dan Hoa Commune successfully organized a ceremony to establish a twinning relationship between residential clusters on both sides of the Vietnam - Laos border (between Dan Hoa Commune and Lang Khang Village, Bua La Pha District, Kham Muon Province). Thereby, strengthening the special solidarity and friendship between the people on both sides of the border, meeting the legitimate aspirations of the ethnic groups on both sides; contributing to tightening the spirit of solidarity, attachment and building a peaceful, friendly and developed Vietnam - Laos.

According to Mr. Dinh Xuan Thong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Dan Hoa commune, after the process of arrangement and consolidation, the work of Party building and organization has been carried out seriously and closely, contributing to ensuring that the Party Committee of Dan Hoa commune is always united, unified, and its leadership capacity and fighting strength are enhanced. The effectiveness and efficiency of the government's management, direction and operation have also been enhanced; administrative reform and digital transformation have been focused on in accordance with local conditions... Thanks to that, the economic picture of Dan Hoa commune is on the path of stable and sustainable development, and people's lives promise to have many improvements in both material and spiritual aspects.
