When farmers help each other develop the economy

QTO - Thanks to the propaganda and appropriate incentive policies, the Farmers' Association (FA) members of Dong Son ward have clearly affirmed their role as the main subject in agricultural development, building new rural areas and civilized urban areas, making an important contribution to the economic, cultural and social development, ensuring national defense and security in the locality. In particular, many farming households are good at production and business with the spirit of "mutual love and affection", both enriching their families and helping poor households and those in difficult circumstances in the locality to escape poverty.

Farmers get rich

Dong Son Ward currently has 2,130 farmer members operating in 36 branches, including 35 residential group branches and 1 professional branch. Vice Chairwoman of the Ward Fatherland Front Committee, Chairwoman of Dong Son Ward Farmers' Association Hoang Thi Thuy Hang said: In recent times, the Standing Committee of the Ward Farmers' Association has focused on directing and improving the quality and effectiveness of the movement of good farmers in production and business.

Thanks to that, from more than 1,414 registered households, 739 households have achieved the title of excellent production and business at all levels. The material and spiritual life of farmers has been increasingly improved. The number of well-off and rich households has been increasing, the rate of poor households has been decreasing year by year.

“Starting with an initial capital of 20 million VND, I embarked on building a garden-pond-barn economic model: perennial fruit trees, freshwater fish farming, cattle breeding and rice production. After just over 1 year of “the land does not fail the people”, my family paid off all debts. Life gradually changed and we escaped from difficulties. Up to now, my production model has achieved a total revenue of 1.5 billion VND/year, creating jobs for 7 regular workers with stable income”, Mr. Dang Van Luan, in residential group 1 Phu Vinh shared.

The Ward Farmers' Association also proactively coordinates with departments, branches, and organizations to propagate and mobilize farmers to actively participate in collective economic forms; guide the establishment of branches and professional farmer association groups; advise on trademark registration; geographical indications, and prepare documents to participate in the selection of OCOP and VietGAP products.

Thanks to these efforts, Dong Son Ward Farmers' Association now has 1 professional Farmers' Association, 1 VietGAP product and 3 OCOP 3-star products.

Unite to help each other develop the economy

Promoting its role, the Dong Son Ward Farmers' Association has stepped up trade promotion, coordinated with all levels and sectors to introduce, promote and consume agricultural products for farmers through exhibitions, fairs, congresses... At the same time, the association has strengthened coordination with the Provincial Center for Vocational Education and Support for Farmers and Women, agricultural cooperatives to provide fertilizers, seeds, materials, land preparation and harvesting services and mobilize members to use organic fertilizers, microorganisms, and biological pesticides in agricultural production.

The Association also proactively coordinated with agricultural service centers, the Provincial Center for Vocational Education and Support for Farmers and Women, community learning centers in communes and wards... to organize vocational training for 160 people of working age, training for 1,200 cadres and members of Farmers' Associations; guided 1,150 members to install and access the Vietnam Farmers' Digital Platform, and participated in scientific seminars to convey information and scientific and technological knowledge.

At the same time, the Ward Farmers' Association actively cooperated with Lien Viet Bank, Social Policy Bank, Provincial Farmers' Support Fund... to provide credit and support farmers to borrow capital to invest in production, business, create jobs, and increase farmers' income. In particular, the association provided credit to members to borrow capital from the Social Policy Bank with an amount of 60.5 billion VND, and the Provincial Farmers' Support Fund with an amount of 2.7 billion VND. Thanks to that, many farmers have boldly invested in economic models to strive for good production and business.

Chairman of Dong Son Ward People's Committee Doan Hong Quan affirmed: The movement of farmers competing in good production and business has created many large production models with investment capital of billions of dong, creating jobs for many workers. These are advanced models, typical examples, representing the spirit of hard work, creativity, self-reliance and self-reliance of farmers. Good farmers not only enrich their families but also actively help poor households and those in difficult circumstances with materials, capital, and jobs to escape poverty. Thereby, arousing the strength of solidarity and creating consensus in society. Currently, Dong Son Ward has 26 poor households, including 7 poor farmer households (due to lack of production capacity).

Dang Van Luan, a good producer and trader, is a typical example of regularly supporting members in difficulty. In 2025, he helped 5 members with capital, seeds, and seedlings for production and stable life. In addition, Mr. Luan also supported the people of Rao Con village (Phong Nha commune) to develop the economy and improve their lives with a total cost of 15 million VND.

“In the past, when my family encountered difficulties, they were helped by individuals, departments, branches and local organizations, thanks to which we have the foundation we have today. Therefore, when production is stable and life is better, I am willing to support and help the less fortunate. That is the sentiment, the connection, the responsibility to the community and society,” Mr. Luan expressed.
