Tay Ho Ward: Making cultural industry a key economic sector

As a locality with many historical and cultural relics, traditional craft villages and especially possessing West Lake - a unique natural landscape of the Capital, Tay Ho ward has many potentials and strategic advantages to develop into a cultural, service and tourism center.

The draft political report of the 18th Congress of the City Party Committee emphasized the need to preserve and promote the value of tangible and intangible cultural heritages, valuable relics and architectural works, including West Lake. To implement the strategic goals of the City, in the 2025 - 2030 term, the Tay Ho Ward Party Committee has set out key tasks: Improving leadership capacity, building a clean and strong political system; promoting the value of West Lake associated with the development of culture, services and tourism; building a ward that meets the standards of a "Civilized Urban Area", towards the development of a green, smart and modern urban area.

According to Party Secretary and Chairman of Tay Ho Ward People's Council Nguyen Dinh Khuyen, in the new term, Tay Ho aims to achieve an average economic growth rate of over 10.5% per year; service-tourism economic structure accounting for over 73%; 100% of public schools meeting national standards; health insurance coverage rate reaching 98%; and people's satisfaction index with administrative agencies reaching over 99%.

One of the important tasks is to implement the “Project to preserve and promote the value of West Lake and surrounding areas”, creating a cultural - tourist space associated with the preservation of relics, craft villages, and landscapes; at the same time, developing new tourism products such as night tourism, cultural - spiritual tourism, and community tourism. This is the direction to concretize the City's strategic orientation on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector, making Hanoi a leading destination in the Asia - Pacific region.

Secretary of the Tay Ho Ward Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Khuyen emphasized that the long history of civilization has left Tay Ho with a treasure trove of unique cultural, historical and spiritual resources, including tourism resources, tangible and intangible culture. Along with traditional craft villages, the area also has dozens of historical relics, including many famous places such as West Lake, Tran Quoc Pagoda, Kim Lien Pagoda, Tay Ho Palace, Van Nien Pagoda...

Tay Ho also owns many relics with typical traditional festivals, attracting a large number of people such as: Dong Co Temple Loyalty Oath Festival, Tay Ho Palace Festival, Voi Phuc Temple... These festivals show respect to saints who have contributed to the development of the nation, at the same time increasing the attractiveness to tourists.

Thanks to its own potential, the cultural recognition of West Lake has been enhanced in the memory of domestic and international tourists. The integration of tourism activities with culture has made tourism a spearhead in the development of cultural industry, contributing positively to the preservation and promotion of traditional and modern cultural values.

To exploit the potential of relics, heritages, and craft villages around West Lake to serve tourism development, Tay Ho has issued and implemented the Project "Organizing a space for performing culinary and street arts in Tay Ho district", the Project to enjoy Quang An lotus tea...

The ward also coordinates with the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion and businesses to identify destination brands, develop spiritual tourism combined with traditional craft villages. Dozens of relics have been restored and embellished in parallel with projects to develop craft villages and cultural spaces. The ward Party Committee has determined that West Lake is a strategic advantage to turn West Lake into a cultural, service and tourism center of the capital.

To realize the aspiration of becoming the cultural, service and tourism center of the Capital, Tay Ho Ward will synchronously deploy key tasks. Along with building and rectifying the Party, improving the effectiveness of the political system, considering the purity and strength of the Party organization as the foundation for development, in the 2025 - 2030 term, the Ward Party Committee will also focus on administrative reform, applying digital technology to serve the people, taking people's satisfaction as a measure.

Strongly developing services and tourism associated with preserving the value of West Lake will be a breakthrough growth driver. To do this, the ward will develop cultural and artistic tourism products, exploit the advantages of craft villages and cuisine, and form a creative space associated with West Lake.

Tay Ho will also expand the night economy, promote the cultural industry and promote the tourism brand regionally and internationally, realizing the City's goal of building "cultural industry into a key economic sector", while effectively exploiting geographical strengths and cultural heritage.
