Before the competition day on May 9, the 32nd SEA Games Organizing Committee announced changes to the competition schedule for athletics events.
Nguyen Thi Oanh promises to face many difficulties on the competition day of May 9.
Accordingly, Nguyen Thi Oanh, instead of only competing in the 1,500m women's event, will also have to compete in the 3,000m obstacle course.
More remarkably, the two events were only 20 minutes apart, which is truly incredible for a professional tournament.
The girl from Bac Giang will have to compete in the 1,500m at 5:30 p.m. and then at 5:50 p.m. she will enter the 3,000m obstacle course.
It is expected that Oanh will take more than 4 minutes to complete 1,500m.
She only had time to change clothes, put on her bib number for the 3,000m obstacle course and had to go to the waiting room immediately if she didn't want to be disqualified.
This will be a race with Oanh in both performance and time.
More importantly, competing in two difficult events so close together will make it difficult for athletes to maintain their physical strength.
Previously, the Organizing Committee had changed the athletics competition schedule at least twice, causing difficulties for the teams in preparation.
According to the initial target, Oanh had to shoulder the responsibility of winning 3 gold medals in the 1,500m, 3,000m hurdles and 5,000m.
The girl born in 1995 also plans to compete in the 10,000m event, and is likely to win all 4 gold medals of the 32nd SEA Games.
