Kinhtedothi - On December 18, 2024, the People's Committee of Hai Phong City held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Nguyen Trai Bridge Construction Investment Project and Urban Redevelopment of the surrounding area. This is one of the city's key projects in 2024.
Resolution No. 45 of the Politburo on construction and development of Hai Phong City to 2030, with a vision to 2045, sets the goal that by 2025, the city will complete the relocation of its administrative center to the north of the Cam River.
The investment project to build Nguyen Trai Bridge and urban embellishment of the surrounding area is of great significance in realizing the above goal, contributing to connecting traffic infrastructure, practically embellishing and expanding urban space, and effectively exploiting the "golden land" funds on both sides of the Cam River of the city.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung said: In recent years, Hai Phong City has focused on investing in expanding urban space to the North of the Cam River. In 2017, Hai Phong started the project to invest in building technical infrastructure for the new urban area North of the Cam River with a scale of more than 324 hectares, including the construction of Hoang Van Thu bridge across the Cam River.
Next, Hai Phong invested in building the City's Political - Administrative Center and the City's Conference - Performance Center in the above area. By May 2025, the Hai Phong City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and other city agencies will move to the North Song Cam Political - Administrative Center to work. Along with that, in the above area and surrounding areas, many investors are also investing in building new urban areas and modern high-rise apartment buildings, forming a new urban area with a very large population.
More specifically, on October 24, the National Assembly Standing Committee passed Resolution No. 1232/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the establishment of Thuy Nguyen City under Hai Phong City, so people in surrounding localities tend to move here to live.
To ensure more convenient and clear travel across the Cam River, Hai Phong has decided to invest in building Nguyen Trai Bridge. This is the 6th bridge across the Cam River and the 4th bridge leading to the urban area North of the Cam River.
Nguyen Trai Bridge project belongs to group A project, is a special traffic project, with a total investment of more than 6,200 billion VND, of which construction and installation cost is more than 4,200 billion VND, site clearance cost is more than 2,000 billion VND.
The area cleared for the construction of bridges and access roads is more than 21 hectares, in addition to reclaiming the surrounding area with an area of more than 43 hectares for urban beautification.
Nguyen Trai Bridge has 4 lanes for motor vehicles, designed as a cable-stayed bridge, the bridge section is nearly 1,500 m long, the middle span alone is 300 m wide, the widest compared to other bridges in Hai Phong, 2 towers 111 m high form 2 sails reaching out to sea, expressing Hai Phong's aspiration to "reach out to the ocean".
The intersection connecting to Le Thanh Tong Street has modern architecture; Nguyen Trai Street is expanded from 18 m to 50.5 m, connecting to Le Hong Phong Street and Cat Bi International Airport.
In order for the Project to be implemented on schedule and effectively, the Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee requested contractors to focus human and material resources to build works with technical and aesthetic standards, especially to ensure absolute labor safety, reduce construction time compared to the signed contract; strive to complete the project in 2027.
The Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee also requested the city's departments, branches and sectors and Ngo Quyen district to create the best conditions and immediately resolve difficulties and problems arising during the construction process, especially ensuring security and order during the construction process.
On this occasion, the Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee requested the Ministry of Transport and the Vietnam Railway Authority to soon submit to the Prime Minister the dismantling and relocation of railways in the Hoang Dieu port area to speed up construction and urban beautification.
