The organizers of the Green Wave Awards announced this year's theme as "Descendants of the Dragon and the Immortal," embodying the spirit of pride, connection, and the dissemination of Vietnamese national identity. Beyond honoring musical values, the Green Wave Awards also aims to convey a meaningful message about a new generation of talented Vietnamese artists.
The 28th Green Wave Awards kicked off the voting period by announcing the summary of achievements of songs that had appeared on the charts throughout the past year. Accordingly, 2025 saw a total of 106 songs eligible for voting, appearing on the charts from December 13, 2024 to December 12, 2025.

Notably, the 2025 Green Wave Awards set a major record when the song "Bac Bling" (by Hoa Minzy, Tuan Cry, and People's Artist Xuan Hinh) achieved 41 weeks in the top 10, including 13 weeks at number 1, followed by "Phep Mau" (24 weeks), " Ech Ngoai Day Gieng" and "Dancing in the Dark" (both with 17 weeks), and then "Tai Sinh" with 15 weeks.
According to the plan, the 2025 Green Wave Awards will present 16 award categories. A notable highlight is the return of the Favorite Soundtrack Song category, after many years of absence.
The categories include: Top 10 Favorite Songs; Song of the Year; Phenomenal Song; Arrangement/Production; Producer of the Year; Favorite Soundtrack Song; Album of the Year; Music Video of the Year; Favorite Radio Song; Outstanding New Face; Breakthrough Artist; Favorite Male/Female Singer/Rapper; Male/Female Singer/Rapper of the Year; Outstanding Collaboration; Special Award; and Green Wave Achievement Award. Of these, the only category voted on by the audience is Favorite Male/Female Singer/Rapper.
The 28th Green Wave Awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in January 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City.
