This is an important event marking the connection of freight and passenger transport activities from Kunming city, Yunnan province to the northern provinces of Vietnam, aiming to improve customs clearance capacity through border gates and deploy direct cross-border transport, facilitating two-way freight transport, minimizing logistics costs; at the same time developing bilateral economy and trade.

Of the three transport routes across the Vietnam - China border and vice versa, the transport route from Hai Phong - Hanoi - Lao Cai International Border Gate (Vietnam) - Hekou Border Gate (China) - Kunming (China) is 1,400 km long, playing a very important role in the circulation of goods between Yunnan and the southwestern provinces of China to the northern provinces of Vietnam such as: Lao Cai - Yen Bai - Phu Tho - Vinh Phuc - Hanoi - Bac Ninh - Hai Duong and Hai Phong, where there are large seaports. Thereby, helping to circulate goods to other countries in the ASEAN region and vice versa.

After departure, the transport convoy on the Kunming - Hai Phong route departed towards Ha Khau Border Gate and entered Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. 2, Lao Cai Province (Vietnam) this morning, December 20.
