Updating the implementation status of the North-South expressway project, Can Tho - Hau Giang section, My Thuan Project Management Board said that as of mid-June 2024, the project's output reached about 2,290/6,846 billion VND, reaching 33.5% of the contract value, 9% behind the adjusted schedule.

The main items that the contractor is focusing on include: Completing the service road and temporary bridge; handling weak soil and constructing K95 embankment; 40/40 bridges (construction of pile foundations, bridge piers, casting and installing girders).

According to the project management unit, the project's construction output is still slow due to some problems such as: The volume of sand for foundation exploitation and transportation to the project is still limited, not meeting the requirements; Some sand mines have been certified by the locality, the contractor has completed the procedures but cannot be exploited due to obstruction by the people (2 mines in Vinh Long) or are located entirely in the waterway (1 mine in An Giang ).

At the same time, projects in the region are being deployed simultaneously, but the mobilization of equipment and human resources is still facing many difficulties.

The limitation in the volume of sand brought to the construction site is also one of the major obstacles preventing the Hau Giang - Ca Mau expressway project from meeting the set schedule.

According to the report, the cumulative implementation value from the beginning of the project to date has reached more than 3,500 billion VND, reaching 30% of the contract value, 10% behind the adjusted schedule.

The main items under construction include: Completing service roads and temporary bridges; Treating weak soil and constructing K95 embankment; 71/86 bridges have been constructed.

"The project's construction progress has improved but is still slow due to some problems such as: The amount of sand allocated to the project is still low, the supply is still very limited, 2/7 sand mines in Dong Thap are temporarily suspended to fix the environment.

The approval process and handover of the mine to the contractor still takes a long time," My Thuan Project Management Board informed.

The Can Tho - Hau Giang expressway project has a total main route length of nearly 38km and more than 9km of connecting routes.

In the phased phase, the expressway was invested with a limited 4-lane scale, 17m roadbed width, and a design speed of 100km/h. The total investment of the project is more than 10,370 billion VND.

The Hau Giang - Ca Mau expressway project has a main route length of more than 73km and a connecting route of nearly 17km. In the phased phase, the project is invested in a limited scale of 4 lanes, with a roadbed width of 17m. The total investment is more than 17,150 billion VND.
