Storm No. 13 (Kalmaegi) caused heavy rain and strong winds in the provinces from Quang Ngai to Tuy Hoa, damaging many railway sections and disrupting train operations. The area Km1136+850 in the Phuoc Lanh - Van Canh section suffered the most serious landslides, with some places reaching a depth of 9m.

Vietnam Railways has mobilized manpower, vehicles and equipment from three joint stock railway companies Phu Khanh, Thuan Hai and Nghia Binh, working continuously day and night with the goal of opening the route soon. Nearly 300 workers worked in three shifts, four shifts, building a temporary bridge consisting of two abutments, two pillars and three steel girder spans, ensuring that trains can pass through the landslide area at a speed of 5km/hour.
