On the evening of November 10, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Vuong - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Railway Corporation - said that the temporary bridge section in the area where the railbed was washed away by floodwaters from km1136+800 to km1136+925, the section between Van Canh - Phuoc Lanh stations on the North - South railway line, had been completed, and at the same time, officially issued the order to open the railway line through this area.

According to Mr. Vuong, the repair of this problem took a long time because the washed away roadbed was more than 60 meters long and about 9 meters deep, while access to the construction site was very difficult.

The railway industry had to open a service road leading to the scene, mobilizing more than 300 workers and dozens of machines and equipment to work day and night to ensure progress.

A representative of Nha Trang Railway Transport Branch said that in recent days, the unit has organized the transfer of more than 2,400 passengers in 10 trains from Tuy Hoa station ( Dak Lak ) to Dieu Tri station (Gia Lai) and vice versa.

Those who have purchased train tickets to travel through the area affected by storm No. 13 will be informed by staff about the railway situation, creating conditions for free ticket refunds; passengers waiting for transfers will be supported with free meals.

Previously, heavy rain and floods caused by storm No. 13 (Kalmaegi) caused severe damage at km 1136+850 of the North-South railway in the Van Canh - Phuoc Lanh section. The floodwaters caused strong erosion, blowing away the entire roadbed, "hanging" the rails in the air, making it impossible for trains to pass through.
