Chairman of Hung Yen Provincial People's Committee becomes Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee

The Politburo assigned and appointed Mr. Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Yen province, to hold the position of Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, term XX, 2025-2030.

On the morning of November 11, 2025, Nghe An Provincial Party Committee held a conference to announce the Politburo 's Decision on personnel work. Attending the conference were Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Head of the Central Organization Commission Le Minh Hung; Party Central Committee member, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Organization Commission Hoang Dang Quang; Party Central Committee member, Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Huu Nghia; Hanoi Party Committee Deputy Secretary Nguyen Duc Trung; Party Committee Secretary, Political Commissar of Military Region 4, Major General Doan Xuan Buong; and leaders and former leaders of central departments and branches, Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee, Hung Yen Provincial People's Committee.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were Mr. Nguyen Khac Than, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Hoang Nghia Hieu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Le Hong Vinh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; and comrades in the Standing Committee and the Provincial Party Executive Committee.

At the conference, Mr. Hoang Dang Quang, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee, announced the Politburo's Decision on personnel work. Accordingly, the Politburo decided to transfer and appoint Mr. Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Yen province to join the Executive Committee, Standing Committee and hold the position of Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, term XX, 2025-2030.

At the same time, the Politburo also decided that Mr. Nguyen Khac Than would cease to participate in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee and cease to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

On behalf of the Politburo, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Commission Le Minh Hung presented the Decision and flowers to congratulate the new Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Khac Than.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Minh Hung congratulated the Party Committee, government and people of Nghe An province on having a new Provincial Party Secretary, and expressed his belief that comrade Nguyen Khac Than, with his extensive experience in leadership and management through many important positions, will work with the Standing Committee and the Provincial Party Executive Committee to promote the tradition of solidarity and creativity, continue to develop Nghe An strongly and comprehensively, worthy of being the central province of the North Central region.

Previously, Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung, Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, was mobilized and appointed by the Politburo to join the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, term XVIII, 2025-2030, and introduced to the Hanoi People's Council to elect him as Chairman of the City People's Committee.

In his acceptance speech, the new Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Khac Than expressed his deep gratitude to the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Organizing Committee for entrusting him with the new responsibility. He affirmed that together with the Standing Committee, the Standing Committee, and the Executive Committee of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, he will promote the spirit of solidarity, courage, innovation, inherit and promote the achievements left by generations of provincial leaders, and strive to build Nghe An to develop rapidly and sustainably, becoming a well-off province in the country as set out in Resolution 39-NQ/TW of the Politburo.

Mr. Nguyen Khac Than, Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, was born on March 15, 1974, hometown: Phu Duc commune, Hung Yen province. Professional qualifications: University degree in Law; College degree in Procuracy; Master of Economic Management. Advanced political theory qualification. Before the merger of Thai Binh and Hung Yen provinces, Mr. Nguyen Khac Than was Secretary of Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee.

The Politburo's assignment of Mr. Nguyen Khac Than to hold the position of Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee demonstrates the Central Committee's attention and trust in the team of key leaders, and is also an important step in perfecting the province's cadre organization work, contributing to ensuring the unified and comprehensive leadership of the Nghe An Party Committee in the new development period.
