Symbol of new-style school in border area

On the morning of November 9, in the same atmosphere as the whole country, Nghe An province simultaneously held a groundbreaking ceremony for 9 primary and secondary boarding schools in border communes, including: Hanh Lam, Keng Du, Bac Ly, Nhon Mai, Tam Thai, Mon Son, Anh Son, Que Phong and Tri Le.

At the main bridge located at Hanh Lam Inter-level Boarding School, there were comrades Hoang Nghia Hieu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Nghe An province; Le Hong Vinh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with leaders of departments, branches, localities, teachers, students and a large number of people.

At the central bridge point at Yen Khuong Commune Boarding School (Thanh Hoa), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presided over an online groundbreaking ceremony to 15 border provinces. This event kicks off the investment program to build 248 inter-level boarding schools in 248 border communes in line with Conclusion Notice No. 81-TB/TW of the Politburo and Resolution No. 298/NQ-CP of the Government, of which 100 schools will start construction in 2025.

Nghe An alone has 10 schools receiving investment in this phase. Two schools in Keng Du and Bac Ly have a scale of about 27 classes, more than 1,000 students, with a total investment of about 200 billion VND/school; the remaining 8 schools have a scale of 30 classes or more, with an investment capital of 200 billion VND/school, expected to be completed and put into use in August 2026.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Thai Van Thanh, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An province, emphasized that this is a strategic project to develop education in border areas, expand equitable learning opportunities for ethnic minority students, and help them study and train in a modern, safe, and comprehensive environment in terms of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, and aesthetics.

“This is a valuable opportunity to improve people's knowledge, discover and nurture talents, and prepare quality human resources for the mountainous border region of Nghe An,” Mr. Thai Van Thanh affirmed.

Speaking at the Hanh Lam bridge, Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh emphasized that the construction of an inter-level boarding school system is not only an educational project, but also has profound political and humanistic significance, demonstrating the strategic vision of the Party and State for the education cause in border areas.

“Each brick, each row of columns contains sentiment and responsibility. This is a work of faith, of dreams, of the future,” the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee emotionally said.

Mr. Le Hong Vinh also requested localities, construction and supervision units to closely coordinate to ensure quality, progress and absolute safety, considering this a key political task associated with the responsibility of the leader.

Realizing great policies, sowing knowledge in the border

At the same time, in Anh Son commune, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a groundbreaking ceremony for Anh Son Primary and Secondary Boarding School, one of the 10 key projects of Nghe An province (Na Ngoi Primary and Secondary Boarding School was started in mid-October 2025) in 2025.

Anh Son commune was established on the basis of merging 3 administrative units including Kim Nhan town, Duc Son commune and Phuc Son, a border commune adjacent to Bo Ly Kham Xay province (Lao PDR). The project was built in Phuc Son 1 village on an area of ​​over 5.6 hectares, with a scale of 1,400 students, with a total investment of nearly 200 billion VND.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dau Dinh Duong, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Nghe An province, emphasized: "The project not only ensures continuous learning conditions from primary to secondary school, reducing the rate of school dropouts due to long distances or weather, but also contributes to preserving cultural identity, strengthening solidarity and tightening the Vietnam - Laos friendship."

In Mon Son commune, the southwestern border area of ​​Nghe An, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Mon Son primary and secondary boarding school for ethnic minorities was also solemnly held. The project has a scale of over 100 classrooms, accommodating more than 2,500 students, of which 1,400 are boarding and semi-boarding students. When completed, this will be a key school in the border area, contributing to improving the quality of comprehensive education and developing human resources for the western region of Nghe An.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Luong Van Khanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Nghe An province, said: "The project is a step to realize the policy of the Party and State on investing in the school system for border communes, bringing equal learning opportunities to children in difficult areas, in the spirit of not leaving anyone behind in education."

On this occasion, leaders of Central Ministries, branches and Nghe An province also presented many gifts to students in difficult circumstances, encouraging their learning spirit and their will to excel.

Faith spreads from schools on the border of the Fatherland

Speaking online from the central bridge, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the program of building inter-level boarding schools in border communes is a major policy with profound political, social and humanistic significance, demonstrating the special attention of the Party and State to the country's border areas.

The Prime Minister requested all levels and sectors to strictly comply with the "5 guarantees", including: Ensuring construction quality and progress; Ensuring site clearance and material sources; Ensuring technical, aesthetic, environmental sanitation and labor safety; Not allowing corruption, negativity, loss, waste and capital overruns; Investing to where there is efficiency, bringing practical benefits to students, teachers and the community.

The new, spacious and modern schools not only open the door to knowledge for students in remote border areas, but are also symbols of faith, aspiration for development, and Vietnam-Laos solidarity.

From here, children in the border areas of Bac Ly, Nhon Mai, Hanh Lam, Anh Son, Mon Son... will be able to study in a safe, synchronous, and loving environment - a place to nurture future citizens, continuing the journey of building a "rich, powerful, and prosperous" homeland as desired by the Party, the State, and the people.
