Prosecution of a head of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Thanh Hoa

During the implementation of projects at Thanh Hoa Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 1, Le Chi Cuong directed Do Thi Dung to create fake documents and vouchers for outsourcing labor costs in the amount of VND 907,200,000. This amount was then used for personal expenses.

On the evening of September 18, information from Thanh Hoa Provincial Police said that the Investigation Police Agency of the Provincial Police had initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained Le Chi Cuong (54 years old, Head of the Department of Social Evils Prevention under the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Thanh Hoa, former Director of Thanh Hoa Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 1) and Do Thi Dung (38 years old, Deputy Head of the Department of Administrative Organization - General, Thanh Hoa Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 1, former Chief Accountant of this case) for the crime of "embezzlement of property".

According to the investigation results, from 2017 to 2020, Thanh Hoa Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 1 implemented the scientific project "Project on applying technical advances to build a food production model following VietGap standards associated with vocationaltraining at Thanh Hoa Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 1" and "Project on building a production line for unburnt bricks from crushed stone, sand and available materials in Thanh Hoa province". During the implementation of the project, Le Chi Cuong directed Do Thi Dung to create fake records and documents for outsourcing labor costs with the amount of VND 907,200,000. This amount was then used for personal expenses.

The case is under investigation.
