The Shennongjia Scenic Area in Hubei Province, China, has announced a recruitment for staff to play the role of "forest men" to serve visitors during the summer tourist season. The recruitment notice, posted on June 7, has attracted attention on social media and received thousands of applications in a short time, according to Beijing News .
A representative of Shenlv Group said that on the first night of the announcement, more than 2,000 people registered. As of June 9, the number of applications had increased to nearly 4,000. On the Douyin platform, the organizers have set up more than 20 recruitment groups with more than 10,000 members participating.
According to information from the scenic area management board, the work takes place from July to August. Employees are required to dress up as "forest people" and participate in activities in the primeval forest area and tourist attractions.
The "forest man's" task is to walk around in prepared costumes, perform physical movements, perform actions simulating wild movements, communicate with visitors through gestures, record activities and share them in the working group.
The job does not require experience. Candidates must be in good health and are not restricted by age or gender. The announced salary is 500 yuan per day (1.8 million VND), paid according to actual working days. Successful candidates will be granted a certificate of completion of the job and participate in an accident insurance package worth 1 million yuan (3.6 billion VND).
In addition to physical activities, the "jungle man" is also required to receive food from visitors if any. Those who are familiar with the outdoor environment or have the habit of eating fresh food will be given priority in the selection process.
Shennongjia is located in the northwest of Hubei Province, bordering Jingxiang, Bashu, the Yangtze River and Wudang Mountains. This reserve is recognized by UNESCO in three categories: Biosphere Reserve, Global Geopark and World Natural Heritage.
The "forest man" role-playing model was built to increase interaction at the destination, while creating a different experience for visitors during the peak summer season. According to the organizers, this form is being considered for long-term development, not just during this year's summer vacation.
