The Hoia Baciu Forest seems to have a strange magnetic field. Everything disappears as you go deeper into the forest. Many believe that this forest is a gateway to another dimension.
Local legend tells of a little girl who was lost in the woods for many years. Five years later, the locals saw her return. However, she had not grown up and had no memory of what had happened.
Hoia Baciu is also linked to the mysterious disappearance of a shepherd and 200 sheep. The man led his flock into the woods and never returned. No remains or anything else was ever found.
According to the Tour in Romania website, this forest has a strange vegetation. The trees bend and twist into extremely scary shapes. Notably, all the trees here rotate clockwise.
To this day, scientists have yet to find a reason to explain why the tree grows in such an unusual way.
Not only that, inside Hoia Baciu there is a circular clearing in the middle of the forest, called the “dead zone”. Many people rumor that perhaps this area contains some mysterious thing that prevents the surrounding trees from growing.
One of the most famous mysteries ever told involves UFOs. In 1968, military technician Emil Barnea went into the woods with a group of friends. Suddenly, they spotted a strange flying object with a silver color in the sky.
Investigators then looked into reports of weather balloons or anything else that might have been flying in the sky in the area that day, but found no trace of anything to explain the phenomenon.
Many who entered the forest reported feeling a chill down their spine, as if someone was watching them. Others returned with unexplained scratches or bruises.
Sometimes one could hear whispers, women's giggles or young girls' screams.
It is these mysteries that have made Hoia Baciu a place that arouses the curiosity of scientists and adventure travel enthusiasts around the world.
