Aston Villa beat Bournemouth 1-0 in round 36 of the Premier League on the morning of May 11.

After Manchester City's 0-0 draw and Aston Villa's 1-0 win over Bournemouth in round 36 of the Premier League on the morning of May 11, the opportunity to participate in next season's Champions League is still open for at least 5 other teams.

Except for Arsenal and Liverpool, who are certain, Manchester City, Newcastle, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Forest will compete for the remaining three tickets.

According to statistics from Opta , Arsenal are almost certain to finish the season in the top 5, with a 99.7% chance. Arsenal are currently second in the table with 67 points and need just 2 points from their final 3 games to secure a top 5 spot, regardless of the results of their opponents.

Manchester City made things difficult for themselves after a goalless draw with Southampton. Manager Pep Guardiola stressed the team must “fight to the end” and treat the next three games like finals after dropping two points.

“A month ago, I didn’t think it would be any different,” he said. “But this is a fight to the end.”

Manchester City are currently third with 65 points. Thanks to their superior goal difference compared to their opponents, Opta rates them as having a 91.3% chance of qualifying for next season's Champions League.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, are rated with just a 34.1% chance, the lowest of the five teams competing for the remaining four spots. Unai Emery's side are currently level on points with Newcastle and Chelsea (63 points) but have played one game more and have a worse goal difference. Villa also have to host Tottenham at home before visiting Manchester United.

Chelsea have a 67.9% chance of qualifying for the Champions League. They face a tough schedule against Newcastle, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest.

Newcastle have a 69.3% chance of qualifying for the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest, who have not played in the competition since winning it in 1980, are rated by Opta as having a 37.7% chance. Forest also face Leicester in the East Midlands derby, before clashes with West Ham and Chelsea.
