- On the afternoon of May 8, the Department of Agriculture and Environment organized an inspection of the actual situation of water sources for production and daily life in Loc Binh district.
Currently, Loc Binh district has 73 irrigation works, including 23 lakes, 46 dams, 4 pumping stations; total canal length is 241 km, of which 170.8 km have been reinforced. In addition, the district has 200 temporary dams and dams built and managed by the people themselves. The total area of proactive irrigation in the district is about 2,600 ha, reaching about 60% of the district's rice-growing area.
Regarding domestic water, currently in the district there are 50 rural domestic water supply works managed, operated and used by the community. Of these, 36 domestic water supply works are maintained and exploited effectively; 13 works are broken and degraded; 1 broken work is no longer in use.
To ensure water sources for production and daily life, the People's Committee of Loc Binh district directed relevant agencies and units to properly manage the amount of water stored in ponds, lakes, and dams; implement water-saving irrigation measures suitable for water sources and production in each area; regularly monitor weather developments to operate water storage in reservoirs; utilize all water sources from rivers, streams, and ponds; organize dredging of canals, organize repairs and upgrades of irrigation works... Up to now, the reservoirs have basically ensured the supply of irrigation water for production areas within the scope of the works... However, due to prolonged drought, some areas still lack water for production and daily life.
During the inspection, the working group of the Department of Agriculture and Environment and related agencies and units inspected the Na Cay Lake project, Na Duong town and Ta Keo Lake, San Vien commune, Loc Binh district.
At the inspection points, representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Environment requested relevant units to continue to propagate and guide people to proactively store water, use it effectively, prevent waste and water loss; increase dredging of canal systems, clear water flows, repair and upgrade damaged works; regulate water flexibly and appropriately; monitor weather developments, proactively switch to suitable crops; identify areas where drought may occur, propose specific and timely response plans, ensure water sources for production and people's lives...
According to the plan, from May 8 to May 19, 2025, the working group of the Department of Agriculture and Environment will inspect the actual water sources for production and daily life in all districts and cities in the province.
