Actual inspection of key dykes in Ba Chuc commune

Faced with the situation of rising water levels in canals, which can easily cause landslides and dike collapses, on October 23, a working delegation of the Party Committee and People's Committee of Ba Chuc commune (An Giang province) inspected the key dikes protecting crops and fruit trees in the area.

Check the weak dikes to protect vegetable and fruit growing areas.

The delegation inspected Ong Tuong mound and Dong 24 sub-region. The current status of the dikes is stable, after reinforcing the embankment to protect crops and fruit trees, the water level is about 30 - 50cm from the embankment.

Previously, the People's Committee of Ba Chuc commune assigned the farmers' association, military command, border guards, police, union members, youth to coordinate with the people to reinforce and protect the production area at the key points.

Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Council of Ba Chuc commune Pham Minh Hien encouraged people to reinforce the dike to ensure production.

Through the inspection, Party Secretary and Chairman of Ba Chuc Commune People's Council Pham Minh Hien requested members of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue to coordinate with specialized agencies, hamlet forces, and local people to proactively monitor water level developments, strengthen reinforcement of weak dike sections, and deploy measures to protect the safety of people's agricultural areas.

In the 2025 autumn-winter crop, Ba Chuc commune planted over 2,902 hectares (2,763 hectares of rice, over 139 hectares of vegetables). Currently, the unharvested rice area is 1,293 hectares. Of which, the sub-region West of Canal 24 (completely embanked) has 616 hectares of rice in the flowering stage; the above sub-regions have 677 hectares of rice in the tillering and panicle-forming stages. In addition, there are 125 hectares of unharvested vegetables.
