Import and export increase sharply through border gates

According to statistics, in 2022, the total import-export turnover reached 73.392 million USD, an increase of 32% compared to 2021. Import-export tax reached more than 68 billion VND, an increase of 160% over the same period in 2021. The total number of vehicles passing through the border gate in 2022 was 7,914 (4,133 exits, 3,781 entries), an increase of 302% over the same period in 2021.

In 2023, the total import-export turnover will reach 95.26 million USD (exports will reach 26.29 million USD, imports will reach 68.97 million USD), an increase of nearly 30% compared to 2022. Import-export taxes will reach more than 138.5 billion VND, an increase of 203%. The total number of vehicles passing through the border gate will be 30,338 (15,413 exits, 14,925 entries), an increase of 303% compared to 2022.

In the first 6 months of 2024 alone, the total import-export turnover reached 38.6 million USD. Import-export tax reached 65.38 billion VND. The total volume of goods cleared through the border gate reached 633,672 tons, an increase of 810% over the same period (export 19,371 tons, up 4.8%; import 18,740 tons, up 5.6%). Temporary import and re-export reached 99,284 tons (up 100%). The largest increase was the amount of transit goods, which increased dramatically by 1,524.2% (nearly 497 thousand tons of goods). The total number of vehicles passing through the border gate reached 40,290 vehicles, an increase of 545% over the same period. The total number of people entering and exiting the border gate reached 83,949, an increase of 169% over the same period.

According to Mr. Thieu Viet Dung, in order to contribute to promoting the development goals according to the Border Trade Agreement between the two Governments, effectively implementing the cooperation minutes between Quang Nam and Sekong, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province has directed the development of a project to organize an international conference on regional connectivity on the East-West Economic Corridor through the Nam Giang - Dac Ta Ooc International Border Gate pair, potential and development opportunities. This international event is expected to be held at the end of September this year in Quang Nam .
