On August 15, Major Nguyen Van Hinh, Political Commissar of An Hai Border Guard Station (Dak Lak Provincial Border Guard Command) said that the unit had just coordinated with fishing boats to successfully rescue a fishing boat and 5 fishermen in distress in the waters of O Loan commune, Dak Lak province.
Previously, at 8:30 a.m. on August 14, An Hai Border Guard Station received a report that fishing boat BD98470TS, 942 horsepower, 18.2 meters long, fishing for tuna, owned and captained by Mr. Nguyen Van Tau, born in 1985, residing in Tan Thanh 2 village, Hoai Nhon Bac ward, Gia Lai province, had an accident in the sea area of Xom Cat village, O Loan commune, about 1 nautical mile from shore.
Immediately after receiving the news, the unit mobilized 5 officers, soldiers and 1 vehicle of local fishermen to the scene, deploy rescue measures, support to overcome the incident and encourage the crew.
Currently, fishing boat BD98470TS is being towed by a rescue ship to Quy Nhon port for repairs. The health of the 5 fishermen is stable.
