(CTO) - By November 19, the People's Committee of Phong Nam Commune, Can Tho City, had mobilized forces to support people in overcoming the consequences of storms that blew off roofs and damaged houses, crops, and orchards on the afternoon of November 17. Currently, the affected people have stabilized their lives.

According to the report of Phong Nam Commune People's Committee, on the afternoon of November 17, in Phong Phu and Phong Thoi hamlets of Phong Nam Commune, there was a heavy rain accompanied by a thunderstorm, causing damage to people and property. Initial statistics show that 28 households were affected, with an estimated total property damage of about 671.7 million VND.

After the disaster occurred, Phong Nam Commune People's Committee promptly mobilized forces to support people in cleaning up their houses and overcoming the consequences. At the same time, it directed the relevant departments to urgently review, count, and make complete and accurate statistics on houses, crops, fruit trees, etc. of the affected people so that the city could provide support according to regulations.

* Since the beginning of the year, Can Tho City has recorded 4 types of natural disasters, directly affecting people's lives. Of which, 111 riverbank and coastal landslides; 69 heavy rains accompanied by storms; 5 floods and high tides; 13 saltwater intrusions. Natural disasters have affected 299 households, injured 4 people; the total estimated damage is about 33 billion VND.
