Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong in Hamlet 1, Long Phu Commune (Can Tho City) said that due to difficult economic conditions, she had to sell traditional cakes and lottery tickets every day to support her family. Seeing this, her daughter helped by working for many companies outside the province, but her income was unstable. The family could not afford to send her daughter to work abroad due to the high costs. Around the end of 2024, she went to the Long Phu Social Policy Bank Transaction Office to learn about the conditions for borrowing money for her daughter to work abroad and was able to access a preferential loan of 117 million VND.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong shared: “Thanks to the preferential loan of 117 million VND, my daughter was able to go to work in Japan. After more than 6 months of working abroad, my daughter sent money back to pay off the debt of more than 50 million VND borrowed from relatives and is continuing to save money to repay the loan from the Long Phu Social Policy Bank Transaction Office according to regulations.”

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sang in Hamlet 3, Long Phu Commune, expressed: “Seeing the difficult situation, the locality created conditions to help my family access a preferential loan of 100 million VND from the Long Phu Social Policy Bank Transaction Office for my daughter to study abroad in Taiwan. Currently, my daughter is waiting to work part-time to earn money to cover her studies and send money back to help her family. In fact, if there were no preferential loans for students studying abroad, my daughter's dream of studying and working to earn money to help her family would be difficult to realize.”

Mr. Truong Quoc Khanh, Director of the Long Phu Social Policy Bank Transaction Office, informed that recently, the preferential credit program for workers working abroad under contracts and international students has been highly appreciated by people for its effectiveness. In the first months of 2025, 12 cases received loans with a total preferential capital of more than 1.22 billion VND to work in Japan and Korea; 11 cases received a total preferential loan of more than 1.12 billion VND to both study and work abroad.
The condition for receiving loan support is that when registering and being selected to work abroad under a contract, there must be a contract signed between the employee and the service enterprise or career organization sending the employee to work abroad under a contract. For students participating in the study-work program, they must have completed high school and been selected to study-work abroad. The current loan interest rate is 6.6%/year.
In the coming time, the unit will advise the local Party Committee and government to coordinate with departments, branches, and commune organizations to lead and direct overseas labor work, the study-work program for international students, especially to widely propagate the preferential loan program of the Social Policy Bank of Can Tho City to all subjects, so that people can access the loan capital of the programs effectively, helping to develop production and business, create jobs, increase income for subjects, contribute to improving the quality of human resources, and promote the socio-economic development of the locality.
