Black smoke blanketed the area where a fire broke out in a mangrove forest planted by local people in Bac Lieu.

As soon as receiving the news, the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Team of Phuoc Long - Hong Dan area (Bac Lieu Provincial Police) and local police and people participated in extinguishing the fire.

Due to the hot weather and dry vegetation, the fire spread quickly and the fire area was far from a water source, making firefighting difficult.

Firefighters had to use small pumps to pump water from shallow ponds in the cajuput forest area to put out the fire.

By about 6:00 p.m. the same day, the fire was basically under control.

The fire did not affect surrounding houses. Damage is being estimated by authorities.

It is known that people around often go into the Melaleuca forest to burn smoke to get honey, which can fly into the dry grass area, causing the fire to spread and cannot be controlled in time. Initial statistics show that several hectares of Melaleuca forest have burned down.

The cause of the fire is being further investigated and clarified by the authorities.

Local authorities also noted that people living in areas at risk of fire during the dry season need to pay more attention to fire prevention and fighting to avoid unfortunate losses.
