Disciplinary action against 2 former Chairmen of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee

On June 19, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang signed the Prime Minister's Decisions to discipline two former Chairmen of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province.

Specifically, in Decision No. 532/QD-TTg dated June 19, 2024, the Prime Minister decided to take disciplinary action in the form of: Removing the position of Chairman and Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province for Mr. Le Viet Chu due to violations and shortcomings in his work and the Secretariat has taken disciplinary action against him.

In Decision No. 533/QD-TTg dated June 19, 2024, the Prime Minister decided to take disciplinary action in the form of: Removing Mr. Cao Khoa from the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province due to violations and shortcomings in his work and the Secretariat has taken disciplinary action against him.

Previously, on March 27, 2024, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency (C03) issued a Decision to prosecute, an Order of temporary detention, and a Search Warrant against Mr. Le Viet Chu, former Vice Chairman, former Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and former Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee.

According to the Investigation Agency, Mr. Le Viet Chu was arrested for the crime of "Accepting bribes," stipulated in Clause 4, Article 354 of the Penal Code. The Investigation Police Agency of the Ministry of Public Security determined: During the performance of his duties, the defendant Le Viet Chu received money from Nguyen Van Hau to facilitate the Phuc Son Group Joint Stock Company to win the bid for the package "Construction of the main route of the South bank road project of Tra Khuc River, Quang Ngai province."

On March 8, 2024, the Ministry of Public Security also issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and temporarily detain Mr. Cao Khoa, former Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, for the crime of accepting bribes in the case occurring at Phuc Son Group Joint Stock Company (Phuc Son Group), as prescribed in Clause 4, Article 354 of the Penal Code./.
