According to VNA Special Correspondent, on May 9 (local time), in Moscow, General Secretary To Lam met with Chairman of the United Russia Party and Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federal Security Council Dmitry Medvedev.
Chairman of the United Russia Party Dmitry Medvedev expressed his pleasure to meet General Secretary To Lam again, who came to attend the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and pay an official visit to Russia, and highly appreciated the important significance of the visit, especially in the context of the two countries celebrating important historical events in each country and in bilateral relations, including the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Russia diplomatic relations, the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification and the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day.
Mr. Dmitry Medvedev emphasized that this visit will contribute to deepening the traditional friendship and trust between the two Parties and two countries.
The Chairman of the United Russia Party congratulated Vietnam on the achievements it has made in recent times under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and General Secretary To Lam himself, and expressed his belief that Vietnam will continue to firmly move forward on the path of sustainable development, independence, and comprehensive and extensive integration.
General Secretary To Lam expressed his joy at attending the 80th Anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, making an official visit to Russia and meeting friends and comrades to feel the warm and special affection that the Russian leaders and people have for Vietnam.

The General Secretary emphasized that the Victory in the Great Patriotic War contributed to the victory of the August Revolution, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and that commemorating this Victory is an occasion to honor the contributions of the Soviet Union and progressive forces in the world, while reminding the younger generation to remember the sacrifices and losses of their ancestors for peace and freedom.
General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated Russia's dynamic development under the leadership of President Vladimir Putin and the United Russia Party, and affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to consolidating and expanding the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia.
The General Secretary emphasized that the cooperative relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the United Russia Party is a solid foundation for promoting bilateral relations in all fields.
On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam conveyed the regards and best wishes of the senior leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam to Mr. Dmitry Medvedev and the leadership of the United Russia Party.
General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the Party, State and People of Vietnam always appreciate and deeply remember the valuable support of the former Soviet Union and the Russian Federation today in the cause of national liberation as well as the cause of national construction today.
In the context of rapid international changes, Vietnam attaches special importance to traditional friendship and is ready to cooperate closely with the Russian Federation to elevate relations on key pillars such as politics, security-defense, energy, education-training, culture and people-to-people exchange.

The two leaders agreed on many major directions to strengthen relations between the two Parties and two countries.
First of all, the two sides affirmed to continue strengthening political trust through high-level exchanges and close cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the United Russia Party, the foundation for long-term sustainable relations.
The two leaders also agreed to strengthen cooperation between the youth of the two countries to continue the tradition of relations between the two Parties and peoples.
The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and open up new directions of cooperation, including defense, security, oil and gas, economy and trade, science and technology, transport infrastructure, aviation, space, artificial intelligence, education and training, cyber security, culture and tourism.
The two leaders also had in-depth discussions on regional and international issues of mutual concern, agreeing to strengthen coordination at regional and international forums, especially the United Nations, APEC, ASEAN, etc.
On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam respectfully invited Chairman of the United Russia Party Dmitry Medvedev to soon visit Vietnam again./.
