In Quang Ngai , the flood on the Tra Khuc River exceeded the warning level 3, causing many residential areas in the province's center to be deeply submerged. Faced with this situation, people proactively moved their belongings and evacuated to higher areas to take shelter to ensure the safety of people and property.

According to VNA reporters, on the afternoon of October 29, the residential area of Lien Hiep 1B residential group, Truong Quang Trong ward was submerged in water. Many areas were nearly 2 meters deep, people had to use boats to move their belongings; the evacuation of the elderly and children was given top priority.

Mr. Le Van Cong, resident of Truong Quang Trong ward, said he suffered a stroke and was bedridden. The floodwaters rose quickly, and more than half of his house was submerged, so he had to ask his neighbors to help him move to a higher place to avoid the flood.

On Tran Van Tra Street, the flood rose suddenly, leaving residents unable to react. Many people had to evacuate urgently, leaving their belongings submerged in the raging water.

Ms. Trinh Thi Cam Ly confided that she only had time to put a few belongings on high ground and then ran away with her family to avoid the flood. In this emergency situation, life safety is the most important thing.

The Tra Khuc River has also overflowed the culvert area of the project to prevent landslides and beautify the landscape of the southern bank of the Tra Khuc River. Dozens of people were mobilized to carry sandbags to reinforce and prevent further water from overflowing, protecting the central area of the province from the risk of widespread flooding.

Mr. Pham Van Nhan, Technical Officer in charge of the Project of Anti-erosion Embankment and Landscape Restoration of the Southern Bank of Tra Khuc River, informed that the purpose of the sluice is to pump water from the old Quang Ngai City area to Tra Khuc River when the pumping station is in operation. However, because the current water level of the river is higher than the inner construction, a large amount of water is overflowing. Once the sluice cover is covered, the problem will be completely resolved.

Heavy rain, strong winds, and big waves also caused four fishing boats of Quang Ngai fishermen to be swept away while anchored at the wharf in My Tan village, Binh Son commune.

According to the forecast from the Quang Ngai Province Hydrometeorological Station, in the next 24 to 48 hours, the area east of Truong Son will have heavy to very heavy rain. Rainfall in the delta region is likely to reach 70-150 mm, in some places over 200 mm. There is a risk of flooding in low-lying areas, urban and industrial areas.

According to a quick report from the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, up to now, 6 communes in the East of Truong Son have been flooded extensively, including Phuoc Giang, Nghia Hanh, Di Lang, Binh Duong , Binh Minh and Truong Giang. The province has also completed the evacuation of 368 households with more than 1,200 people to safety.

In Gia Lai, in the past few days, the province has had moderate to heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain. Faced with increasingly complex and unpredictable natural disasters, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Gia Lai province has warned that flash floods and landslides can have very negative impacts on the environment, threatening people's lives; causing local traffic congestion, affecting the movement of vehicles; destroying civil and economic works, causing damage to production and socio-economic activities. Especially for high-risk communes such as: An Tuong, Kim Son, Vinh Thanh, An Hao, An Vinh, Binh An, Cat Tien, Kong Bo La, To Tung...

According to the reporter's records, in Ia Ly commune, the authorities evacuated 6 households (23 people) living in the landslide area on the road to OPY 500kV Station to a safe place. In De Gi commune, the authorities evacuated 15 households (51 people) living along the Ganh mountain area (Duc Pho 1 village), where there is a high risk of landslides, to a safe place.

In An Hao Dong, heavy rains and floods caused water levels to rise, flooding the road leading to An Lao commune, posing a danger to road users. In Tuy Phuoc commune, heavy rains and floods also flooded the Tranh river spillway. The commune People's Committee has inspected and placed warning fences; at the same time, closely monitored high-risk areas to promptly handle and notify the people.

In An Hoa commune, Mr. Huynh Tan, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said that the locality had mobilized 59 households living around Tra Cong mountain (Tra Cong village) to move to a safe place on the evening of October 29. This area is at high risk of landslides.

“In the immediate future, the commune will encourage people to go to relatives and acquaintances’ houses for temporary shelter. In case the heavy rain continues, the commune will deploy a plan to evacuate to a safe area that has been prepared, with full necessities to serve the people,” affirmed Chairman of the commune Huynh Tan.

Also in An Hoa commune, according to Chairman of Huynh Tan commune, on October 29, there was very heavy rain in the commune. Through actual inspection, it was noted that some cliffs were eroded due to strong currents; some sections of the road to An Toan commune were collapsed, with some places having gaps, but travel was still basically smooth. The authorities have put up warning signs in dangerous areas and have sent forces on duty 24/7 to monitor the development of flooding and landslides and proactively respond.

Faced with the situation of extreme heavy rain, the Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee issued an urgent dispatch requesting units to concentrate maximum resources and take drastic actions with the motto "Safety of people's lives and property is above all, first and foremost".

In the immediate future, units and localities must absolutely not be negligent or subjective; urgently inspect and review vulnerable areas at risk of landslides and flooding to proactively activate response plans. Resolutely organize the evacuation of all people from dangerous areas, ensuring that no cases remain in high-risk areas. Put all rescue forces, vehicles, and equipment at the highest state of readiness, ensuring quick mobility and timely response when required.
