Encourage officers and soldiers to actively support people in flooded areas

On October 31, Senior Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, Deputy Chief of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, inspected, visited and encouraged households and armed forces in areas affected by natural disasters and floods in Hue city.

In Phu Xuan ward, one of the heavily affected areas, Senior Lieutenant General Truong Thien To visited, encouraged and presented gifts to households; at the same time listened to the people's thoughts, deeply sympathized with the losses caused by natural disasters. The Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics acknowledged the efforts of the government and armed forces in relief work, helping people gradually stabilize their lives. Senior Lieutenant General Truong Thien To suggested that organizations, units and people continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, make efforts to overcome the consequences to quickly rebuild life and restore the peaceful rhythm of life in the ancient capital.

At Tran Quoc Toan Primary School (Phu Xuan Ward), deep floods damaged many teaching equipment, affected the teaching and learning activities of teachers and students, and caused environmental pollution. Hue City Military Command mobilized hundreds of officers, soldiers, and militiamen to participate in cleaning and restoring facilities.

Senior Lieutenant General Truong Thien To directly inspected the remedial work, visited teachers' lives, gave gifts and encouraged the forces on duty.

He requested that military units continue to closely coordinate with local authorities, review damage, and prioritize support for educational and medical facilities and public works to quickly return to normal operations. The General emphasized that the entire force needs to maintain a sense of responsibility, encourage officers and soldiers to make efforts to help people overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives after the flood.

To support the people of the Central region, the Ministry of National Defense has directed Military Regions 4 and 5 to maintain 163,795 officers and soldiers, and 3,415 vehicles of all kinds on standby, ready to perform rescue missions. As of October 28, the Ministry of National Defense mobilized 15,108 officers and soldiers, and 273 vehicles to help people overcome the consequences of floods. 6,594 households/20,443 people have been evacuated from deep and dangerous flooded areas to safety. Military Region 4 also promptly provided 16 tons of food to people in flooded and isolated areas in key areas.

Currently, the floodwaters in Hue city have receded, leaving behind a large amount of mud, waste and damaging many structures. The city's authorities and people are implementing the motto "where the water recedes, clean up there", mobilizing the maximum force of police, army, organizations and people to urgently collect garbage, dredge mud, and clear sewers. Forces are assigned to focus on cleaning schools, medical stations, hospitals, parks and main roads to soon restore a clean and safe appearance to Hue city.
