With a total budget of €95.5 billion for the period 2021-2027, Horizon Europe is the EU's largest research and innovation funding programme, aimed at tackling global challenges such as climate change, clean energy, digital transformation and sustainable development. The aim of the programme is to improve research capacity, the quality of scientific works and promote international cooperation.
The program helps Vietnamese universities, institutes and scientists to have deeper access to the Horizon Europe program, promoting international integration capacity for Vietnamese lecturers and scientists. The workshop provided an overview and introduced the EURAXESS support network, along with funding opportunities for outstanding researchers through the European Research Council fund and the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions program. This activity opens up opportunities for Vietnamese scientists to access the world's leading research funds.
According to Mr. Trevor O'Regan, Head of the EU-Vietnam Cooperation Programme, the workshop is part of a series of cooperation activities between the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam and the European Union to promote research, innovation and the application of research results into practice. Horizon Europe will continue to support Vietnamese institutions and universities in finding partners, completing research proposals and accessing European funding sources.

Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City National University, said that the unit is taking on an important role in training human resources for the socio-economic development strategy; at the same time, aiming to be in the top 100 universities in Asia by 2030. To achieve that goal, Ho Chi Minh City National University strengthens international cooperation, especially in major global research networks. Lecturers and scientists of Ho Chi Minh City National University are encouraged to participate in international projects, improve research capacity and publish in the world's leading journals.
Mr. Hoang Huu Hanh, Deputy Director of the National Digital Transformation Agency - Ministry of Science and Technology, assessed that Ho Chi Minh City National University is one of the leading research and training units in the country.
