Ca Mau urgently deploys measures to respond to high tides and heavy rains.

Faced with the situation of high tides combined with heavy rains over a large area causing deep flooding in many urban areas, low-lying areas, riverside and coastal areas, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province has directed and requested departments, branches and localities to focus on synchronously implementing response solutions, protecting the safety of people's lives and property and minimizing damage caused by natural disasters.

According to the direction of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, recently, high tides in early September of the lunar calendar combined with heavy rains caused widespread flooding, seriously affecting people's lives and production, especially in Bac Lieu , Tan Thanh, Ly Van Lam and An Xuyen wards.

To proactively respond, the Provincial People's Committee requested Party Secretaries and Chairmen of People's Committees of communes and wards to continue to strictly implement prevention and response measures; at the same time, specifically survey each flooded point and affected production area, promptly adjust response plans according to reality, and avoid being passive or surprised.

Communes and wards are required to set up barriers, warning signs, traffic diversion, and guide people to move safely during high tides; organize forces to support people, especially at hospitals and schools, collect garbage, mud, and clear waterways after the water recedes to avoid disease outbreaks.

For rural areas, localities need to review low-lying areas, dykes, irrigation works, mobilize local forces to protect production, reinforce dykes, evacuate people and property from dangerous areas, and prepare rescue plans when necessary.

Along with that, the Department of Construction, Provincial Police, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Health, Department of Education and Training, Ca Mau Electricity were assigned to preside over and coordinate the implementation of measures to ensure traffic safety, drainage, protection of irrigation works, disease prevention and guidance for people to avoid electrical accidents in flooded areas.

The Provincial People's Committee requests units to report the situation and daily implementation results to the Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control for synthesis and reporting to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee and central ministries and branches according to regulations.
