Statistics show that the prolonged rain and floods from Da Nang to Quang Ngai have submerged 54 communes and wards; caused landslides at 107 locations, buried dozens of houses and severely cut off traffic. Facing this emergency situation, more than 11,800 officers and soldiers of the armed forces of Military Region 5, along with hundreds of vehicles (canoes, motorboats, specialized vehicles), bravely crossed the flood, approached people to rescue, evacuate and transport food and necessities to isolated areas.

The armed forces of Military Region 5 have safely evacuated more than 7,200 households, equivalent to nearly 24,000 people. At the same time, they have distributed nearly 10 tons of dry food, thousands of boxes of instant noodles, more than 76,000 bottles of water, and 12,000 boxed meals, milk, and canned meat to people in flooded areas. In coordination with local authorities, the engineering units of Military Region 5 have also overcome 40 landslides, cleared many national and provincial highways, and ensured smooth traffic.

Lieutenant General Le Ngoc Hai highly appreciated the spirit of initiative and dedication of the soldiers of the entire Military Region 5. He affirmed: "In any situation, the armed forces of the Military Region must be the force that arrives first and leaves last; not letting people go hungry or cold, not letting anyone be left behind."

The Commander of Military Region 5 requested units to continue to closely monitor the area. They need to coordinate closely with the government, police, and forces of the Ministry of National Defense and local authorities to search for missing people, overcome landslides, clean up schools, clinics, bridges, and help people stabilize their lives soon.

At the same time, it is necessary to focus on preventing post-flood epidemics, handling environmental pollution, ensuring logistics and absolute safety for both rescue forces and people. Units must also strengthen propaganda, mobilize people, maintain political security and social order, and not let hostile forces take advantage of natural disasters to distort and incite.
