Da Nang young chess player wins Asian Student Chess Championship 2025

DNO - Vo Lan Khue, a student of class 2/1 at Ngo Gia Tu Primary School (An Hai ward), has just won the Gold Medal at the 2025 Asian Student Chess Championship, held in the capital Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia).

In the G7 standard chess category (female under 7 years old), Lan Khue scored 7.5 points after 8 games, surpassing many strong players from Asian countries. After a draw in the second game, Lan Khue won consecutively the remaining games, thereby taking the absolute lead and being crowned champion.

With this achievement, Lan Khue officially completed the WCM (Women's World Grandmaster) standard and is only waiting for her elo coefficient to reach 1,800 to be officially recognized by the World Chess Federation (FIDE). This is an important step in the journey to conquer the world's chess peak of the 2008-born player.

Previously, at the 2025 National Youth Chess Tournament held in July, Lan Khue also made history by winning all four Gold Medals in all four categories: standard chess, rapid chess, blitz chess and super blitz chess.

According to the Vietnam Chess Federation, Vo Lan Khue is an outstanding young face of Da Nang , has achieved high results many times in national youth chess tournaments and was chosen to represent Vietnam to participate in this year's Asian Student Chess Tournament.

Lan Khue's victory is the pride of teachers, friends and the chess movement of Da Nang city, opening up expectations for a new generation of chess players to continue the tradition of Vietnamese intellectual sports .

It is known that the 2025 Asian Student Chess Tournament will take place from October 24 to November 2. Besides the standard chess content, on November 1, Lan Khue will continue to compete with other players in the blitz chess content.
