All for students

Although the water had not yet completely receded from the school yard, teachers from Kim Dong Primary School, Dien Ban Ward, went to the school to clean up.

On the morning of October 31, although the water had not yet completely receded from the schoolyard, teachers of Kim Dong Primary School, Dien Ban Ward, arrived early to gather to clean up the school after nearly a week of being "soaked" in water. Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Tram, Principal of the school, said that the floodwater had submerged more than half of the first floor, lasting for many days, sweeping away and severely damaging many teaching aids, student desks and chairs, televisions, educational equipment... These items that contained the heart and soul of teachers and students were now submerged in mud and water. But in the midst of difficulties, the spirit of "all for beloved students" shone brighter than ever. Despite the water not yet receded, despite their own fatigue and worries, on October 31, teachers living near the school did not hesitate to wade through the mud, gathering to clean up, to ensure that teaching and learning could resume next Monday, November 3.

More touchingly, many teachers whose homes were also heavily affected by the flood still put aside their messy work at home to go to school to clean up, hoping to welcome students back soon. Ms. Doan Huyen, an art teacher living in Dien Ban Tay ward, shared: "This is a historic flood. My house is also deeply flooded, but at this moment, school is the top priority. We have to clean up quickly so that the children can get to class on time, so that their studies are not interrupted any further."

Amidst the chaos of life after the natural disaster, the teachers of Kim Dong Primary School chose to put aside their personal worries and prioritize the common work. They diligently scrubbed each table and cleaned each classroom that was still covered in mud. The image of the dedicated "ferrymen", with dirty clothes and sweat pouring down in the midst of the devastation after the flood, is the clearest proof of their deep love for their profession and children.

The silent sacrifices and extraordinary efforts of the teaching staff of Kim Dong Primary School are lighting a warm flame of hope, helping the school soon regain its vitality to welcome back nearly 1,200 beloved students. That spirit will certainly be the greatest and most touching lesson that the students receive after this historic flood.

University students in the city volunteered to go to schools to clean up so that teaching can resume soon.

After the floodwaters receded, the cleaning work at Vinh Dien Kindergarten, Dien Ban Ward was urgently deployed with the spirit of "where the water recedes, there is cleaning". All the school's staff, teachers and employees, along with the active support from parents, local authorities and volunteers, did not hesitate to work hard and join hands to overcome the consequences.

Ms. Lam Bich Linh, the school's principal, said that in order to welcome the children back to class early next week, as soon as the water receded, the teachers would come to clean up, wipe down tables and chairs, and prepare school supplies. The top priority was to rake and wash away the thick layer of mud on the schoolyard, hallways, and classrooms. The children's tables, chairs, utensils, and toys were cleaned, sanitized, and dried thoroughly. In particular, the work of disinfecting and sterilizing the environment with lime powder and specialized chemicals was thoroughly carried out to prevent epidemics from arising after the flood. With this outstanding effort, Vinh Dien Kindergarten is rushing to complete the final stages, ensuring clean and safe facilities to welcome students back to school soon, stabilizing teaching and learning in the best environment.

Mr. Trinh Dang Quy, an officer of the Department of Culture and Society , Dien Ban Ward, said: All 11 schools in the ward, from kindergarten to junior high school, were deeply flooded in the recent flood. Currently, the water has receded, the schools are urgently focusing all resources to clean up mud, clean and sanitize the campus and classrooms. The goal is to soon organize teaching and learning again, not to let the students' learning be interrupted for too long. The ward also received great support from volunteer student forces, police, army and local people in overcoming this consequence.

At Nguyen Duy Hieu High School, more than 20 officers and soldiers of the Mobile Police Department, Da Nang City Police are also actively working with teachers to clean up trash and mud swept into classrooms and the school yard by the flood. Mr. Pham Le Ngoc Anh, the school's principal, said: The school was deeply flooded, higher than the historical flood peak, with some places flooded from 1.5m to 1.8m. Because the school is right at the market gate, the water brought in trash, causing pollution and loss of aesthetics. The main damage to the school was the anti-glare boards being flooded, and some electronic equipment being broken due to falling into the water. The school is being assisted by the police force to clean up. The immediate task is to clean up the classrooms to prepare for students to return to school. The school is gradually overcoming the situation, but first of all, we have to stabilize the learning process, so that students can return to school normally on Monday next week.

To ensure the teaching and learning program, the school will arrange make-up classes on holidays, including Saturdays and Sundays. During this period, the school also mobilizes all teachers to organize online classes for students to prepare for review and mid-term exams. The goal is to ensure the program is on time and not let students have gaps in knowledge, said Mr. Pham Le Ngoc Anh.
