At exactly 10:00 a.m. on May 9, Moscow time (ie 2:00 p.m. on the same day, Hanoi time), the Russian Federation solemnly held a military parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War (May 9, 1945 - May 9, 2025) at Red Square, Moscow.
According to the special correspondent of VNA, at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, General Secretary To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, paid an official visit to the Russian Federation and attended the 80th Anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War.
More than 20 heads of state, heads of government of countries; high-ranking delegations, and veterans from around the world were invited to attend the parade on Red Square this year.
Speaking at the ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, emphasized that May 9 is the main holiday for every family and every anti-fascist nation in the world.
The Russian leader emotionally recalled the merits and sacrifices of tens of millions of frontline and rearline soldiers to reach Victory Day. President Vladimir Putin acknowledged the contributions of the allies, who helped bring Victory Day "closer" thanks to the Second Front.
President Vladimir Putin especially emphasized that the lessons of the most fierce war in human history are still relevant, namely the lesson of international solidarity, the lesson of the importance of the struggle against racist ideologies, national extremism, toxic ideologies that cause national hatred, and especially emphasized the danger of arguments justifying fascism that have recently appeared.
President Vladimir Putin asked the entire square to observe a minute of silence in memory of those who fell on the front for a peaceful future. The Russian leader's congratulations on the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism were met with three loud Ura shouts.
Defense Minister Andrei Belousov presided over this year's parade. The parade opened with the Victory Banner, a replica of the flag that was flown over the German Reichstag on April 30, 1945, and the Russian flag appearing in the square.
According to a VNA correspondent in Moscow, the first to appear on the stage were infantry troops from all branches of the armed forces and military school cadets from all over Russia. Among the parade participants, the Young Military Cadets Bloc as well as members of the "Yunarmya" youth patriotic movement attracted great attention. The movement of patriotic education and preserving historical memories among youth has received great attention from Russia in recent years.
The parade of weapons and equipment always attracts the most attention from the audience. Viewers witnessed a convoy of 183 military vehicles, led by the legendary T-34 tank that led the tank column that entered Berlin in 1945 on Victory Day. Following were logistical convoys, armored vehicles, and the new generation T-72 tank.
In particular, the most modern Giatsint-K and Malva self-propelled artillery units were demonstrated for the first time on Red Square. The heavy missile block included the S-400, strategic missile units Yars, Boomerang, etc.
The weather in Moscow was sunny and clear, very favorable for the air force's performance, dyeing the sky in the three colors of the Russian flag. The Victory Day song was played by the military band in harmony with the people present on the Square, as a conclusion to all wishes for peace.
This year’s parade, for the first time, the Vietnam People’s Army sent a delegation of 86 soldiers and officers to participate. On Red Square on May 9, the red flag with a yellow star fluttered along with the flags of other countries sending delegations such as Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States CIS … creating special emotions in the Vietnamese community in Russia in particular and all Vietnamese people in general.
On Red Square, the correct, even, beautiful, strong, heroic, and majestic steps contribute to brightening the image of the country and people of Vietnam and the strength of the Vietnam People's Army and the heroic Vietnamese nation.
Vietnam's participation in the parade at Red Square contributes to affirming its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification, demonstrating Vietnam's responsibility in building and maintaining an environment of peace, stability, cooperation and development.
The presence of the Vietnam People's Army delegation at the parade on Red Square is an opportunity to enhance the image, position and mettle of the Vietnam People's Army.
The military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War was broadcast live on outdoor digital screens from Red Square and broadcast in many provinces and cities across the country; not only images but also important information was displayed in real time.

Because Victory Day on May 9 is not only a day of commemoration but also an occasion to enhance the spirit of national unity, an occasion to educate the younger generation about the heroic fighting spirit and the sacrifices of the previous generation to gain independence, freedom and peace.
