Most assaults on medical staff occur in the Emergency and Intensive Care Units, which are where the most serious cases are treated. According to Dr. Duc, there are many causes of assaults in hospitals.

First of all, the work of medical staff is very special, at the same time very hard, with great pressure. It is estimated that the medical sector receives about 200 million outpatient visits a year. Therefore, in large hospitals, there are days when nearly ten thousand people are examined, the work pressure is very high.

Besides, this is also a service providing field so the service providing force must be skillful, must be trained to have appropriate explanations. Meanwhile, the characteristics of the patient, the patient's family when the family member is sick everyone is worried.

“However, no matter what, when medical staff are performing their duties, assaulting them is unacceptable. I will give an example of the incident in Thanh Ba ( Phu Tho ), the medical staff were assaulted but continued to provide emergency care, as a result the child was saved,” Mr. Duc affirmed.

According to this expert, the security measures for medical staff in recent times have been effective. These are synchronous solutions.

First of all, in places considered hot spots such as the Emergency Department, medical staff are also trained to adjust accordingly, and cannot give inappropriate explanations due to pressure. In terms of security, as soon as there is a problem, security forces are present immediately.

The health sector also innovates in service style and attitude; promotes the application of information technology and digital transformation to improve the quality of diagnosis and treatment, creating a more friendly medical examination and treatment environment. At that time, patients and their families also reduce invisible pressures.

“We also request that the authorities take action very quickly. In all cases, especially the one in Nghe An, the police were present immediately and violators were promptly dealt with. This also has a great deterrent effect,” Mr. Duc emphasized.

According to him, for medical staff, the highest goal is to bring health to patients. Therefore, in all circumstances, medical staff from nurses to doctors have only one wish: to help patients recover quickly.

He also hopes that patients and their families will share if, under pressure, medical staff have inappropriate gestures or words. And in any case, it is necessary to create a safe working environment for medical staff, so that they can devote their best efforts and wholeheartedly to the patients.

As Dan Tri reported, at around 10:00 a.m. on October 23, an attack occurred on the 3rd floor of the 7-story building of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, injuring many people.

The suspect is BVV (29 years old, from Bac Ninh, living in Que Phong commune, Nghe An) whose wife had just given birth and was being treated at the Obstetrics Department. While visiting his wife and child, he suddenly used a fruit knife to attack the people around him.

The incident injured 7 people, including 1 intern, 2 nurses, 2 patient caretakers and 2 children. The victims were rushed to the emergency room.
