At 10:50 a.m., patient VHT was transferred to the Anesthesia and Resuscitation Department of the Provincial General Hospital in the following conditions: conscious, slow contact, Glasgow score 13, no paralysis, pupils on both sides 2mm, light reflex (+). Skin and mucous membranes were pale pink; spontaneous breathing 20 times/minute, SPO 2 : 98% (oxygen 6 liters/minute), pulse: 130 times/minute, BP: 145/80 mmHg, temperature: 36.7 degrees Celsius. Abdomen was soft, not distended; the left ankle was deformed, the wound was almost severed and was temporarily fixed with a tourniquet, bandage, and splint.
On October 24, doctors at Dien Bien General Hospital urgently performed surgery to reconnect the severed left leg of patient VHT.
Directly performing surgery on patient VHT, specialist 2 Bui Duc Phuong, Head of the Department of Trauma-Orthopedic-Burns, Dien Bien General Hospital, said: At 3:00 p.m., we completed the surgery to reattach the patient's left leg. By 4:30 p.m., the patient was awake and able to communicate; the left extremity was warm and pink, and the surgical wound had a lot of fluid absorbing the bandage.
Based on the patient's indicators and reflexes, the on-duty team assessed the surgery as a success. "This is one of the difficult surgeries, but with the doctors' responsibility and dedication to the patient, the surgery has been successful so far," added Pham Tien Bien, Director of the Provincial General Hospital.

It is known that this is the second case of a patient whose leg was severed and successfully reattached by surgery at the Provincial General Hospital. Previously, a patient who had a work accident and whose leg was also severed was successfully reattached by doctors at the Provincial General Hospital.
