With the meaning of creating the first legal framework at the global level for cyberspace, the convention is a historic milestone, not only for the international community, but also affirms the role and position of Vietnam as a proactive and responsible partner in addressing non-traditional security challenges of humanity.
Through this international event, the Hanoi Convention will establish common standards on criminalizing cybercrime, enhance international cooperation and support capacity building for developing countries.
The document is expected to become a global legal framework, ensuring the rule of law and protecting human rights in digital space.
It is expected that within the framework of the Convention Opening Ceremony, there will be a High-level Plenary Discussion, high-level roundtable discussions and sideline conferences on international cooperation in combating cybercrime.
President Luong Cuong will preside over the signing ceremony of the Convention, with the participation of United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and many senior leaders of countries, regional and international organizations.
With the motto of elevating multilateral diplomacy, this event not only has international legal significance, but also affirms Vietnam's position, prestige and global integration capacity in the digital age.
On October 25 and 26, there will be 39 high-level sideline activities, 38 professional seminars and booths displaying technology to prevent and combat cybercrime.
The signing ceremony of the Hanoi Convention with the theme “Combating Cybercrime - Sharing Responsibility - Looking to the Future” was held on October 25-26. This event is expected to "lay the foundation for a historic global document in the field of preventing cybercrime, similar to the United Nations Conventions on Transnational Organized Crime signed in 2000 and the Convention against Corruption signed in 2003".
