Son Tay: Nearly 3,800 people participated in the first Ward Sports Festival

On the morning of October 26, Son Tay ward held the opening ceremony of the 1st Sports Festival - 2025.

At exactly 6:30 a.m., the Congress Organizing Committee performed the traditional incense offering and fire lighting ceremony at Kinh Thien Palace - Son Tay Ancient Citadel. The fire - the symbol of the heroic and indomitable tradition of Son Tay - Xu Doai land was solemnly carried by outstanding athletes to the ward square, handed over to the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Son Tay Ward Party Committee Le Dai Thang to light the Congress torch.

At the ceremony, blocks of national flags, Uncle Ho's pictures, sports flags, Congress symbols, red flags and 68 blocks with nearly 3,800 people from residential groups, armed forces, students, the elderly, the Fatherland Front and political organizations representing more than 73,000 Son Tay people participated in the parade to show off their strength.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Tay Ward Nguyen Thi Thu Huong said that, implementing the movement "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", the Party Committee, government and people of Son Tay Ward always identify the development of physical training and sports as an active contribution to the implementation of socio- economic development, security and defense tasks.

From the strong development of the mass sports movement, Son Tay ward has contributed many excellent athletes to the city and the country, achieving high achievements in domestic and international arenas.

These proud achievements not only demonstrate the efforts and training of each individual athlete, but also contribute significantly to promoting the image of the dynamic, developing and traditionally sporting homeland of Son Tay - Xu Doai to domestic and international friends.

The blocks performed a special performance with the theme "Son Tay Youth for Building the Country", including 6 chapters: Chapter I: Health is "gold"; Chapter II: Health to build and protect the Fatherland; Chapter III: School youth - a bridge of integration and development; Chapter IV + V: The song of building the country forever resonates; Chapter VI: The final act "Son Tay builds the country".

Young people, teenagers and children need to continue to study, cultivate, "train their virtues, practice their talents, and be creative", firmly promote the achieved results, promote the movement "All people exercise their bodies following the example of great Uncle Ho" associated with the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life", bringing the physical education and sports movement of each unit, each agency and of Son Tay ward to new heights.

Within the framework of the Congress, 9 competitions were organized, including: Badminton, tug of war, table tennis, karate, chess, vovinam, Chinese chess, aerobics, shuttlecock kicking. Through the results of the tournaments at the congress, Son Tay ward selected the most typical cores and established a team to compete at the city-level Sports Congress, towards the 11th National Sports Congress.
