The annual Mid-Autumn Festival in Son Tay Ward (Hanoi) will be held from September 13 to October 4. The program is expected to bring a traditional cultural space, connect the community and promote the image of the land of Xu Doai.

With the desire to preserve and promote the unique cultural values ​​of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the People's Committee of Son Tay Ward will organize the program "Mid-Autumn Festival of the Ancient Citadel - Son Tay Xu Doai" in 2025. This is an annual event that has become a unique cultural "brand" of Son Tay land.

A series of unique activities imbued with traditional character

Speaking to the press, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Tay Ward, said: "Mid-Autumn Festival of Ancient Citadel - Son Tay Xu Doai" is not only a fun and entertaining activity for children but also has educational significance, contributing to arousing pride in the national cultural traditions in the community."

The program is scheduled to take place from September 13 to October 4 (July 22 to August 13 of the lunar calendar) with a series of rich activities. The highlight is the Mid-Autumn Festival lantern model contest designed in the image of historical figures, folk legends, animals in fairy tales, fables or cultural symbols, typical products of each unit.

Under the skillful hands and creativity of the people of the residential groups, the Mid-Autumn lantern models are not only beautiful in form but also contain educational value, helping children and tourists understand more about the national cultural identity. Children will also participate in many traditional activities, such as making star lanterns, lanterns, making figurines, making moon cakes, playing folk games and taking photos at Mid-Autumn miniatures.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong hopes that the above activities will bring a joyful and traditional atmosphere, making the Mid-Autumn Festival a memorable one for children. This is also an opportunity for the community to preserve and restore the beauty of the old Mid-Autumn Festival in Hanoi .

“Full Moon Festival” - the highlight of the event

According to the program's organizers, the highlight of the program is the "Full Moon Festival - Mid-Autumn Festival of the Ancient Citadel - Son Tay Xu Doai" taking place at 7:30 p.m. on October 4 (ie August 13 of the lunar calendar) at the main stage of the walking street of the Ancient Citadel of Son Tay.

At the event, 57 residential groups will participate in a parade of unique Mid-Autumn lantern models, combined with art performances, lion, dragon and lion dances. The organizing committee will award prizes for the lantern model competition, award outstanding lion and dragon dance teams and give gifts to disadvantaged children in the area.

In particular, the “Full Moon Festival” will feature artists, comedians and many other fun performances, bringing laughter to young audiences and visitors. According to the Organizing Committee, this year's program continues to be associated with the walking street space around the moat of Son Tay Citadel, both creating a cultural highlight and contributing to the development of local tourism . This is an opportunity for Son Tay people to be more proud of their hometown's traditions, while promoting the image of "Xu Doai" to friends inside and outside the city.
