Many Vietnamese users have their Facebook accounts locked for unknown reasons.

(Dan Tri) - Many Facebook users in Vietnam have had their accounts suddenly locked without any specific reason, even though they had not previously posted or shared any content that violated Facebook's policies.

Many Facebook accounts in Vietnam were locked for unknown reasons.

Mr. Thanh Tung, residing in Hai Ba Trung ward ( Hanoi ), has a habit of opening Facebook on his phone every morning to update news from friends and relatives. However, on the morning of October 18, he suddenly received a notification: "Your account has been disabled" .

Notably, Facebook did not give any specific reason to explain why his account was disabled.

Mr. Tung's account was locked without any specific explanation from Facebook (Screenshot).

In the announcement, Facebook stated: “If you believe your account was disabled in error, you can submit information through the Help Center within 30 days. After this period, the account will be permanently deleted and no review can be requested.”

However, when accessing the “Help Center” link, Mr. Tung only saw general instructions, without a specific section for appeal, making him worried that his account could be deleted after 30 days.

“I registered this account in 2010, mainly to communicate with friends, rarely posting. Now it is locked without a clear reason, it is a pity,” he said.

Not only Mr. Tung, many users in Vietnam also encountered the same situation. On technology groups, a series of people said that their Facebook accounts were suddenly disabled without clear reasons.

These people only have 30 days to file an appeal but all have encountered difficulties because Facebook did not provide clear instructions. When locked, their personal pages completely disappear, and friends cannot find previous information or content.

Many people expressed regret because their accounts had been used for many years, containing important messages and photos. They affirmed that they did not post content that violated policies such as violence or pornography, but were still locked for no reason.

Many long-time Facebook members also had their accounts locked for unknown reasons (Screenshot).

According to Dan Tri reporters' investigation, the situation of mass account locking not only occurs in Vietnam but also happens to users in many other countries.

On platforms like X and Reddit, many users in the US said they suddenly received notifications that their accounts were disabled, even though they had not posted content or images that violated Facebook's policies recently.

Beware of losing money with services that reopen locked Facebook accounts

After many users reported that their Facebook accounts were locked, many Facebook account unlocking services have also appeared.

Many people advertise that they can reopen disabled accounts, with prices varying depending on the age of the Facebook account. For Facebook accounts that are over 10 years old, users will have to spend between 3 and 5 million VND to reopen the account.

Users need to be wary of scams when looking for Facebook account unlocking services (Screenshot).

To unlock a Facebook account, these services often require users to provide personal information, photos of identification documents such as citizen identification cards, driver's licenses or passports... with the reason that personal information must be used to declare to Facebook in order to unlock the account.

However, this can put users at risk of having their personal information exposed. Not to mention that many people have been scammed out of money but their accounts still cannot be unlocked, or their accounts can only be active for a while before being locked again.

Therefore, users need to be more vigilant before using Facebook account unlocking services and should choose reputable services that are used or recommended by many people.

Why is my Facebook account locked?

Facebook often uses content that violates community policies as a reason to lock user accounts. However, when disabling an account, Facebook does not give a specific explanation of which terms or policies they violated, which makes many people feel confused and indignant because their accounts are locked for unclear reasons.

Facebook often uses the reason of “not following Community Standards” to lock user accounts, without specifying any specific violations (Screenshot).

There are many reasons why Facebook disables user accounts. The most common is when they post or share content that is pornographic, violent, racist, or incites hatred, which are violations of the platform's policies.

Another reason is the use of the same phone number for multiple accounts. In this case, the system will suspect the user of creating fake accounts or for spam purposes and proceed to block them en masse.

Additionally, accounts that frequently post job listings or share job information may also be locked, as the algorithm mistakenly identifies them as fraudulent or human trafficking.

Occasionally, Facebook deploys automated scans to screen accounts deemed “suspicious.” Some accounts are reopened after being locked without any explanation.

Facebook now relies heavily on artificial intelligence systems and automated algorithms to moderate and handle violations. However, these tools are not always accurate, leading to many cases of users being locked out of their accounts even though they did not violate policies.

With more than 3 billion global users, it is difficult for Facebook to manually review each complaint, leaving many people without access without the ability to appeal or receive specific responses from the platform.
