With more than 9 years of working in the mining industry, engineer Le Ngoc Khanh (born in 1992), Mining Technology Department (Mong Duong Coal Joint Stock Company) has contributed many initiatives to rationalize production, helping the unit earn billions of dong. With enthusiasm and dedication to work, Le Ngoc Khanh is recently the only representative of the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (TKV) to be honored by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union as a "Good Young Worker" nationwide.
Born and raised in Cam Pha Mining Area, after graduating from the University of Mining and Geology, majoring in underground mining, in 2015, Khanh was hired to work at Mong Duong Coal Joint Stock Company and has been working in the mining industry ever since. Holding a university degree, he applied to work as a tunnel worker. At that time, many family members and close friends advised Khanh to choose another less strenuous job. The first months of getting used to the tunneling work were the most difficult time for the young Le Ngoc Khanh.
Le Ngoc Khanh shared: In mid-2015, just a few months after returning to work at the Company, Mong Duong mine was swept away by a historic flood, submerged in mud and water, causing the mine to face the risk of having to close. Difficulties piled up on difficulties, but Khanh and many young workers at that time were determined to stay with the mine, ready to join the teams to restore collapsed tunnels and fix problems caused by flooding. During that difficult period, Khanh was trained in experience, perseverance and how to overcome all difficulties and challenges.
Khanh's efforts in work are duly recognized. At the end of 2018, Le Ngoc Khanh was transferred to the Technical Technology Department, specializing in supervising the tunnel excavation process at the company's longwalls. Being responsible for his work and having a hard-working and inquisitive nature always urges Khanh to research and come up with initiatives to apply to production conditions, improve working conditions and increase productivity for workers. In the 2 years of 2021-2022, Khanh proposed to implement 4 initiatives and solutions at the Company related to tunnel excavation. Notably, the initiative "Solution for digging a semi-oblique ventilated tunnel at the level of -140m to -100m to recover coal resources at the protection pillar of the mechanized longwall No. 1 L7-1-VM".
In fact, during the process of opening the mine seam for the mechanized longwall No. 1 L7-1-VM, the upper ventilated transport furnace was used as the head ventilation furnace. After the end of the mining area, the coal pillars were often left behind, causing a waste of resources. To overcome this situation, in June 2022, Khanh and a group of young engineers from the Technology Engineering Department proposed a solution: "Digging a semi-oblique ventilated tunnel at the level of -140m to -100m to fully recover coal resources at the protection pillar of the mechanized longwall No. 1 L7-1-VM". After being applied, the solution solved the problem of maximizing the recovery of the remaining coal without wasting resources, contributing to the completion of the Company's goals. The total value of benefits for the company after applying the solution was up to more than 3.6 billion VND.
With the above achievements, Le Ngoc Khanh received many titles and certificates of merit at all levels, such as: "Young Talent" of Quang Ninh Coal Union in 2021; Certificate of Merit from TKV in 2021. Notably, on May 13, Le Ngoc Khanh was honored by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union as "Excellent Young Worker" nationwide in 2023.
Young engineer Le Ngoc Khanh added: “To become a good young worker, for me, first of all, I need to love my job and have a true passion for the job. In any assigned task, I personally learn from my colleagues’ experiences and find practical ways to complete the task well. In the future, I will continue to research and apply mechanization solutions to improve tunneling productivity, contributing to improving working conditions for workers.”
