In July 1954, in response to the demands of the international revolution, the Politburo decided to establish the special task force CP35, under the Politburo and the Secretariat, with the mission of assisting the Lao revolution and some friendly countries. On July 1, 1963, CP35 was renamed Group 95. In 1966, due to the requirements of military missions in Laos, Group 95 was transferred to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense .

During its 22 years of operation, Group 95 has protected and safely transported nearly 7,500 Lao revolutionary cadres through strategic corridors, participated in building revolutionary bases, political education, and military training for Lao cadres and soldiers; opened strategic corridors, transported hundreds of tons of weapons and goods to serve the revolution of neighboring countries... In 1976, when the country was unified, Group 95 also completed its historic mission. In 2010, Group 95 was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces and the First Class Independence Medal.

In Son La, the 95th Group Liaison Committee was established in 2003 and currently has 36 members. Although the war has long since ended, memories of a time of sharing hardships are still present in the minds of former veterans.

Recalling the years of carrying out missions in a friendly land, veteran Tran Van Phuc, currently Head of the 95th Group Liaison Committee in Son La, currently living in Group 8, To Hieu Ward, said: Implementing the Central's direction, with the spirit of not being afraid of hardship, ready to devote youth to the noble international mission, the officers and soldiers of the 95th Group were all thoroughly trained before leaving, contributing to the excellent completion of the tasks assigned by the Party and the State.

Veterans of Regiment 95 share their experiences in health care.

In daily life, the soldiers of Regiment 95 are not only soldiers, but also friends of the Lao people. They grow crops and raise livestock with the people. The soldiers are also teachers, opening classes to eradicate illiteracy, improving the cultural and spiritual life of the people. The Lao ethnic people always consider the cadres and soldiers as family members. They are willing to share food, clothes, care for and adopt wounded soldiers, becoming the rear of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers.

Veteran Nguyen Van Thai, a member of Group 95, currently living in Chieng Mung commune, emotionally shared: My mission when working at Group 95 in Laos was to do mass mobilization work. During that time, I have many memories, but the most memorable was around 1974 - 1975, when I fell into a ravine while going to the forest. Fortunately, the Lao people promptly rescued me and took good care of me. I will always remember and be grateful for their kindness.

Veterans of Regiment 95 always care and stick together like family.

As a member of the 95th Regiment, who directly participated in the battle and carried out the task of protecting the cadres of the friendly country, veteran Hoang Viet Thang, currently living in To Hieu ward, Son La province, clearly remembers the days marching with his comrades through the rugged mountains and forests, eating wild rice, sleeping in bamboo huts, facing the rain of bombs and bullets. With that deep affection, he wrote a memoir called "The Day of Return". The work is filled with emotional pages, realistically recreating the memories of fighting on the Laotian battlefield, where he and his comrades fought side by side, overcame many hardships, and sacrificed for the noble international duty.

Sharing about his work, veteran Hoang Viet Thang said: I wrote the memoir “The Day of Return” to send to the People's Army newspaper to convey to the next generation the gratitude and noble international spirit between Vietnamese soldiers and Lao people, who accompanied and shared during the arduous fighting years, including the story of Lao mothers who wholeheartedly cared for and helped officers and soldiers of Group 95 when they were injured on the battlefield.

It is from these simple yet touching memories of the soldiers of Regiment 95 that the Vietnam-Laos friendship continues to be preserved, nurtured and spread, like a sacred flame lighting the path of peace, independence and special friendship between the two nations.
