Promoting local potential and advantages
Bo Chinh ginseng was first known in Quang Binh (old) more than 300 years ago. This is one of the precious products used by the ancients to pay tribute to the king. The reason for its name is because this ginseng was discovered and used as the first medicinal herb in Bo Chinh district (the land of Bo Trach and old Quang Trach districts). For a long time, Bo Chinh ginseng has been considered a precious medicine in folk medicine. According to traditional medicine practitioners, Bo Chinh ginseng has the effect of nourishing the body, increasing resistance, enhancing digestion, reducing fever, reducing cough...
Due to its high value, Bo Chinh ginseng in nature is overexploited and has become exhausted. To maintain and develop this precious medicinal plant, recently, many businesses and farms in Quang Tri province and some provinces in the country have planted Bo Chinh ginseng, bringing good results. Sharing the same idea, Doc De Cooperative and some households in Trung Thuan commune have deployed planting Bo Chinh ginseng on hilly land. Ginseng is planted for about 8 months to 1 year to harvest the best quality tubers.

Trung Thuan land is famous for its vast natural chestnut forests. Every year, the natural flowers from the chestnut forest are a special food source for bees, creating the Doc De honey brand with a distinctive aroma and natural honey quality.
Ms. Hoang Thi Dung, a member of Doc De Cooperative, shared: “With the desire to promote the potential and advantages of local products, we have researched and invested in machinery, equipment, and technology to produce Bo Chinh ginseng and Doc De honey pills. This is a product combining Bo Chinh ginseng, a rare traditional medicinal herb of Quang Tri, and natural Doc De forest honey.”
Enhance product value
With the main ingredients being Bo Chinh ginseng and Doc De honey purchased locally, Doc De Cooperative has prepared Bo Chinh ginseng and Doc De honey pills in the form of convenient and safe tablets. The product meets the needs of consumers who increasingly prefer health-enhancing products with clear origins, easy to use and no preservatives. In addition, the launch of this product has contributed to increasing the economic value, diversifying and enriching products from Bo Chinh ginseng roots and making them easier to preserve than fresh ginseng roots.

After completing the sample product, packaging design, barcode registration - brand, the Bo Chinh ginseng pill product with Doc De honey was put into trial sale of 1,000 bottles, participating in the OCOP fair in July 2025. After that, Doc De Cooperative boldly expanded the product sales channel through social networking platforms, such as: Shopee, tiki, facebook; signed contracts with specialty stores in and outside the province (Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa ...).
Although newly launched on the market, the Bo Chinh ginseng pill with Doc De honey has been displayed and sold quite well at specialty stores and clean agricultural products in the province (An Nong, Luyen Hue Food). The cooperative also regularly participates in major fairs held in provinces and centrally run cities (Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Da Nang...).
The Bo Chinh ginseng pill product with Doc De honey is a startup project implemented by Ms. Hoang Thi Dung, a member of Doc De Cooperative. The project won second prize in the 3rd creative startup competition organized by the Quang Binh Provincial Youth Union (old) in June 2025.
Ms. Hoang Thi Dung said: “With the goal of putting quality first, the Doc De Cooperative's Bo Chinh ginseng and honey pills are gradually affirming its brand, gaining a foothold in the market, helping to increase the value 3-5 times compared to selling fresh ginseng; creating livelihoods for the Cooperative members. The Cooperative's goal is to achieve a turnover of 50 million VND/month, expanding the raw material area to 0.5 hectares. To expand its business activities, the Cooperative will promote the promotion of its products; maximize access to the market with the quality of its products, reputation in service, and reasonable prices. In addition, the Cooperative also promotes joint ventures and associations with other Cooperatives to provide services and consume products; focus on trade promotion plans in markets inside and outside the province; participate in fairs and seminars organized by the province, region and the Central Government...".
