Sinkholes appear again in Thai Nguyen

According to information from the People's Committee of Na Ri commune, due to the influence of storm No. 10 and storm No. 11, Na Ri commune experienced continuous heavy rain from September 28 to October 6, 2025. Prolonged heavy rain led to the appearance of a new sinkhole.

Specifically, on the morning and afternoon of October 6, 2025, in Hiep Luc village, a sinkhole was recorded at Km80+00 on the right side of National Highway 3B.

This sinkhole has a "frog's jaw" shape. The mouth of the sinkhole has a diameter of about 1 meter, however, the test results show that the width of the subsidence below is very large, up to 6.3 meters.

The location of the sinkhole is close to the left corner of Ms. Ly Thi Thuy's house. This phenomenon is assessed to have a direct impact on National Highway 3B and the safety of nearby residents.

The Na Ri Commune Civil Defense Command quickly took action to deploy emergency response measures. The authorities cordoned off the area, placed warning signs in the subsidence area, and prevented people from approaching the dangerous area.

The government has supported the urgent evacuation of Ms. Ly Thi Thuy's family from the subsidence area. All four members of Ms. Thuy's family and their belongings have been moved to the old Kim Lu commune headquarters.

Currently, the Na Ri commune authorities are closely coordinating with specialized agencies to continue to inspect and monitor the subsidence. The commune has also requested relevant departments and branches to guide handling measures to promptly overcome the incident, ensuring safety for both the people and the vital traffic route of National Highway 3B.

The Department of Construction has directed specialized agencies to urgently erect barriers, install warning lights, assign people to block off and come up with a plan to handle this sinkhole.

In Hiep Luc village area, many sinkholes have appeared but the exact cause has not been determined.

The largest sinkhole here appeared in May 2025, causing severe subsidence on National Highway 3B. The authorities had carefully barricaded it, however, on the night of July 26, a motorcyclist who was not paying attention crashed into the corrugated iron barrier, fell into the hole, and went missing.
