Lam Dong works with TKV on the Tan Rai Bauxite Complex expansion project

Speaking at the meeting, TKV Deputy General Director Nguyen Tien Manh reported on the group's production, business and investment activities in Lam Dong province, including the Lam Dong Bauxite - Aluminum Complex and the Dong Nai 5 Hydropower Plant Project.

The Lam Dong Bauxite - Aluminum Complex Project has a capacity of 650,000 tons of aluminum/year with a total investment of 15,414 billion VND and was put into commercial operation from October 1, 2013. The project's aluminum products are of high quality and are exported to India, Korea, Japan, etc. As of March 31, 2024, the project has produced 6.95 million tons of converted aluminum, contributing 5,315 billion VND to the budget, creating jobs for over 1,000 workers with a current income of over 16 million VND/person/month.

In the first quarter of 2024, Lam Dong Aluminum Company produced 185,800 tons of alumina, reaching 28.6% of the 2024 plan, up 3.8% over the same period in 2023; total revenue was: 933.7 billion VND; expected profit: 10.2 billion VND, reaching 28.4% of the 2024 plan, up 10% over the same period in 2023.

Dong Nai 5 Hydropower Plant Project has a capacity of 150MW, accumulated to March 31, 2024, electricity output is 5.39 billion kWh, total investment of 6,100 billion VND, put into commercial operation since 2016, contributing 1,212 billion VND to the budget.

The two projects have significantly contributed to promoting the socio -economic development of Lam Dong province, contributing to the budget and creating jobs for local people. On the other hand, during the investment and production and business activities, the group and its units have always paid attention to supporting the locality in social security, gratitude, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, and Covid-19 prevention... through funding support since the construction of the projects to date with a total amount of over 320 billion VND.

Also at the meeting, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors of TKV Ngo Hoang Ngan proposed a number of ideas to Lam Dong province regarding the overall development project of TKV's bauxite - alumina - aluminum sector until 2030, with a vision to 2045. Accordingly, TKV has completed the project development and reported to the Enterprise Capital Management Committee. In Lam Dong province, TKV will focus on implementing 2 exploration projects and 2 bauxite - alumina projects before 2030 with a total estimated investment of 35,752 billion VND to increase the capacity of Tan Rai Alumina Complex to about 2 million tons of alumina/year. TKV continues to invest in developing new bauxite - alumina - aluminum projects in the Central Highlands (priority in Lam Dong province) to further improve production and business efficiency, making positive contributions to the construction and socio-economic development of Lam Dong province and the Central Highlands region.

To implement this content, Mr. Ngo Hoang Ngan requested the leaders of Lam Dong province to support TKV in removing difficulties and obstacles in compensation and site clearance, especially thoroughly resolving difficulties related to land acquisition managed by some local enterprises, in order to have enough area for bauxite mining, providing raw materials for Tan Rai alumina factory to operate stably and continuously, ensuring no interruption in production...

Acting Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Thai Hoc affirmed that Lam Dong always appreciates the attention of TKV leaders to the locality. Regarding the policy of building an aluminum electrolysis plant and increasing the capacity of the alumina plant line in Bao Lam district, the acting Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee affirmed that this is an issue of local concern to achieve the goal of socio-economic development for the locality. Lam Dong is determined to quickly implement this policy with TKV and requests the leaders of departments, branches and sectors to coordinate in implementing this policy.
