Traffic
Located in southwestern China, Chongqing is easily accessible by train and plane from most parts of the country. Public transport in Chongqing is generally good, although buses can be crowded and traffic can be congested during rush hour.
Where
Yuzhong is Chongqing's busiest district, with many shopping malls and markets. Yuzhong is conveniently connected to other major areas of the city by the main metro station Xiaoshizi on lines 1 and 6. Hongyadong is a large area with many restaurants and tourist shops, and is even more beautiful at night. There are also many restaurants nearby serving a variety of Chongqing and Sichuan cuisine.
Eating in Chongqing
Chongqing hotpot is known as one of the spiciest dishes in China. Hotpot restaurants are located all over the city and are quite easy to find.
Noodles are another famous dish of Chongqing. You can find noodle shops all over the city.
Truong Giang Cable Car
At the end of the Yuzhong Peninsula is a cable car that takes you across the Yangtze River. This cable car is famous for its stunning views of the Chongqing skyline, which are even more impressive at night.
Do Son Pagoda
This beautiful temple is tucked away in the Huangshan area of the city. With stunning views of the Yangtze River, it is a complex of buildings clinging to the hillside. You can take the 384 bus to get here, but it is much easier to get a taxi.
Ly Tu Ba Station
This subway/monorail station is famous for being located on the 6th floor of an apartment complex. The station and the apartment building were built at the same time and it seems that people do not feel the vibrations from this particular station.
Great Hall
This beautiful building was built in the early 1950s and is home to operas, plays and other events. The square outside is always bustling with people dancing, playing badminton or chess. Opposite the square is the Three Gorges Museum.
Huguang Assembly Hall
This is the old meeting place of the people of Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong and Guangxi, inside is an exhibition about the forced migration of people from the above 4 provinces to Sichuan during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. Besides, there are also some unique architectures here that are very impressive to visitors.
Explore the markets around Port Du Port square
Walking to the Huguang Assembly Hall from Xiaoshizi exit 8, you will pass through the many markets and stalls that make up the Yugang Square. It is also a very interesting place to wander around. The steep hills of Chongqing mean that you will need to use a combination of elevators, escalators and stairs to get from the ground floor at Xiaoshizi to the ground floor towards the Huguang Assembly Hall.
Tzu Chi Kou Ancient Town
Beautiful buildings, lots of food stalls and lots of people, this is definitely a fun place to explore. This old town with a strong Chinese atmosphere has a great museum near the entrance detailing life in Chongqing from the Qing Dynasty to the present day.
Bao Luan Pagoda
This beautiful temple is located in the heart of Tzu Chi Kou. Built on the hills, it offers stunning views as well as some impressive carvings and architecture. It is also a great place to escape the crowds and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
La Han Pagoda
Located next to Xiaoshizi MRT Exit 6, this beautiful temple is a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown Yuzhong.
