The Provincial Red Cross Society awarded funds to support the construction of a charity house for Ms. Tran Thi Mung, Tay Giang commune (Tien Hai).
Due to her old age and serious illness, the life of Mrs. Tran Thi Mung, Dong village, Tay Giang commune (Tien Hai) is especially difficult, without a stable income. For many years, Mrs. Mung has not had a house and has had to stay at a relative's house. In that situation, the Provincial Red Cross Society gave her 70 million VND. With the support of the local government and relatives, at the end of April 2025, construction of Mrs. Mung's new house began. Mrs. Mung emotionally shared: Before, I used to have a small house but it collapsed due to serious degradation. Now, with the help of all levels and sectors, especially the Red Cross Society, people who contributed labor and money, I have been able to build a new house on my land. I am very excited and look forward to the day the house is inaugurated and put into use. This is not only material support but also helps me have more motivation to overcome difficulties and stabilize my life.
Like Ms. Mung, since the beginning of the year, 70 families in especially difficult circumstances in the province have received financial support from the Red Cross at all levels to build and repair houses. To help poor households and households in difficult circumstances live in sturdy houses, recently, the Provincial Red Cross has directed all levels of the association to strengthen propaganda and mobilize resources from businesses, organizations, and philanthropists; coordinate with local Party committees and authorities to proactively review poor households and households in difficult housing circumstances to provide timely support.
Along with building and repairing houses, voluntary blood donation (VBD) is a highlight in humanitarian and charitable activities implemented by the Red Cross at all levels in the province. On average, each year, districts and cities organize 4-5 VBDs, the number of blood donors increases, procedures are simplified, and the quality of care for blood donors is improved. In 2024, the whole province organized 52 VBDs, receiving more than 11,000 safe blood units, an increase of nearly 2,000 blood units compared to 2023. Thai Binh is one of the leading provinces in the country in terms of blood autonomy, ensuring safe blood sources for emergency and treatment with a high rate of repeat VBDs (about 75-80%).
It can be affirmed that, with diverse content and forms, in recent times, the humanitarian and charitable activities of the Red Cross Associations at all levels in the province have always attracted the attention of organizations, units, philanthropists and people.
