Spreading the "Path of Love"

After 9 years of implementation, the "Path of Love" program has distributed thousands of gifts to disadvantaged people and scholarships to underprivileged students who excel in their studies in many provinces and cities of the Mekong Delta. In addition, the program helps poor patients receive medical treatment; provides financial assistance to struggling workers; and offers free meals to patients undergoing treatment in hospitals. The program is implemented through the efforts of Mr. Le Chi Hieu, residing in Ninh Kieu ward, Can Tho city, who connects friends, relatives, and philanthropists.

Mr. Le Chi Hieu is the Director of Le Chi Solution Company, a unit specializing in legal support for startups and providing commercial solutions for businesses. With a desire to share and help poor students and impoverished patients in Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta provinces, he established the charitable program "Path of Love" on October 29, 2016.

Initially, the program's operating costs came from contributions from himself, his family, friends, and colleagues. Later, thanks to his kindness and transparency in his charitable work, the program gradually spread and gained more recognition and support.

The program is implemented annually in two phases: in April, the "Love for Children" scholarship is awarded, and in October, rice and gifts are distributed to disadvantaged families in the provinces and cities of the Mekong Delta. In 2025, the program will award 200 gift packages (rice, essential goods, and cash) to 200 disadvantaged households in Dinh Hoa commune, An Giang province (formerly Go Quao, Kien Giang) at the end of October; and will award over 110 gift packages and 10 scholarships (2 million VND/scholarship) to poor but studious students of Tan Phu Trung Secondary and High School, and 150 gift packages to orphaned children being cared for at Buu Nghiem Pagoda (Dong Thap province) in April 2025.

The program's fundraising methods are transparent, giving donors peace of mind when contributing. Mr. Hieu also contacted Fahasa bookstores, Kien Van Can Tho, Phong Dien rice shops, Dao Nguyen stores, and general stores to collaborate on the program. Donors wishing to contribute can go to these stores to buy notebooks, pens, rice, and other necessities, and then leave the items at the bookstores or stores. Program representatives will then collect the donated items.

In addition, "The Path of Love" also mobilizes philanthropists to contribute funds to support poor patients in their treatment; provides funding for the construction of solidarity houses for students in difficult circumstances; and donates rice, noodles, milk, and gifts to the Charity Kitchen at the Central General Hospital and the 1,000 VND Vegetarian Restaurant of the Can Tho City Charity and Child Protection Association.

Starting in August 2025, Mr. Hieu implemented the "Kitchen of Love" program, cooking meat porridge, rice noodles, pasta, etc., to donate to patients and caregivers at the second facility of the Can Tho City Oncology Hospital each month, providing 230-250 portions. The program was suggested and co-sponsored by Mr. Truong Hoang Viet, owner of Hoang Viet ice company. Members of "The Path of Love" and many philanthropists contributed financially and with their efforts.

Mr. Truong Hoang Viet said: “I participated in several programs of “The Path of Love” and found the activities very humane, so I suggested to the Steering Committee to create a “Kitchen of Love”. Fortunately, when we launched it, we received support from many friends, colleagues, and philanthropists. I will continue to support and accompany the “Kitchen of Love” so that it can operate for the long term.”

Mr. Le Chi Hieu shared: “The goal of the program is to give gifts and support to disadvantaged families and students in the Mekong Delta, and we will continue this work. In the future, the Steering Committee plans to build a large-scale “Kitchen of Love” in Can Tho City, cooking 1,000 to 2,000 charitable meals per week, distributing them 2-3 times a week to disadvantaged people and patients in Can Tho. However, currently, due to limited funding and manpower, we only operate once a month at the Oncology Hospital. We hope that many philanthropists will join “The Path of Love” to carry out and spread charitable activities for the community.”
